Noctilux question-- black or silver?

Hello,  this is an embarrassing question to post but would still appreciate any feedback.  I have been tempted for sometime by the Nocti bokeh and low light possibilities and now ready to plunge... I have a black M240 and love the feel of my 50 Lux in silver, tactically it has a nice 'feel'.  However, we all know 700g Nocti is a beast-- I can't seem to find out how much heavier (if) the silver version is (BH Photo- specs show both the same, which seems odd).  I have also seen some rumors of possible new version of Nocti using carbon etc.  My question is if using the silver makes the experience "too loud" in street settings or not? Just go with my gut and get what 'feels' special or use my brain and stick with black to try to remain discrete (as possible)?  I am leaning toward black version but would welcome any feedback of someone who might have had both versions and noticed what (if) differences they experienced.  Many thanks and sorry for the 'silly' question...

Get the black version. Psychologically, I always felt my chrome M9P was much bigger than my black M9P which in turn seemed larger than my standard M9. Consequently I'd always reach for the standard M9. You don't want to find yourself thinking "I can't be bothered taking that huge lens out". Also, as you say, you don't need to advertise the fact you're carrying around a $5000 lens. I also think the black lens will better suit your black body. Don't bother waiting for the carbon fibre lens. If it ever appears consider it then.

Pete

Don't forget your 50 Summilux is brass and chrome, and the 'Nocti' is same alloy, with either black or silver anodising. Would therefore see no reason they should feel different, and if possible feel difference was your only concern, should make your choice of black easier.

It is a matter of personal taste. For me the silver cameras and silver lenses are mainly "show-pieces". They are easily visible - even if this is not desirable. But they look fantastic in a glass cabinet.

So I prefer the black equipment, because I feel less visiible with it. Just a personal impression.

I must say I love the look of black bodies and chrome lenses, most black M bodies have some chrome accents on them......even Monochrom's.

To me the perfect accessory, both practically and aesthetically to the black/chrome look is a chrome Thumbs Up !!

YMMV
