Thumbs Up for M240/262: Brass vs Titatium version

Hi everyone,

Ready to try something new and decided to buy a thumbs up for my M262 body (been holding my Ms naked with simply the strap arround my wrist for years).

I see that Match Technical came up with a titanium version (EP-10S Ti) in August 2015. It is half the weight of the brass version (EP-10S) which makes it somewhat attractive despite its price...

See http://www.matchtechnical.com/Pages/ThumbsUpEP10STitanium.aspx

Has anyone tried this new version ? The weight put aside, does it hold on the camera and feel the same as the brass version?

Thanks!

Julien

I bought one of 250swb's thumb rests. It leaves the hot shoe available, and doesn't dig into the chest as much as the Match Technical Thumbs Up. Well made, brass, and much cheaper too.

Thanks for the tip. However I prefer the thumbs up which holds on the flash shooe rather than using adhesive.

About the titanium version. ... surprised no one has tried it yet. .. is it a bad sign?

Any more thoughts on this?

I am using the 250swb's thumb rests version and believe me, the adhesive does not let go. I would be more concerned that the Thumbs Up would put pressure on the hotshoe. However, which ever one works for you.

I have the brass version which brasses quickly and quite nicely. Given that the brass version is not heavy it seems silly to me to buy the titanium version solely for weight savings. some may feel differently. Given that the M262 is not brass, the titanium may wear to a similar color as your top plate. not sure of this but that would be the only reason to consider it as an option

How does it look in bare Titanium finish?

I found all three versions depicted here:  http://www.popflash.com/index.php?p=catalog&mode=search&parent=0&mid=0&search_in=all&search_str=thumbs+up&pg=3

It looks pretty nice, but I think I'll "stick" with my 250swb "Thumb". :-)   I don't have to remove it when I want to use the EVF and, if I'm using the EVF it means I'm using a lens that I'll probably want the extra stability with anyway.  Still, there wouldn't be any brassing with titanium....

I've purchased my 90mm Cron and 50mm Lux from them, as well as a couple of Leica batteries.  All in separate transactions.  Super nice to deal with.  Prompt shipments each time.  I never had a problem and wouldn't hesitate to buy from them again.
