M-A = M Analog

M-P - M Poser

Conceivable?

:)

Could be. But I have no idea what analog means. And it certainly doesn't mean Film or film camera. A digital camera is as analog as a film camera.

I was obviously just joking and having fun with your prose.

I think Leica thought of "analog" as in a camera that is not digital (b/c analog is typically defined as pre-digital mechanism), hence film...

The M-A is not likely built like the M5, M4 and earlier models which were all hand-fitted.

.

What's the romance with hand fitted parts? I'm glad Leica techs took the time 'back then' to make everything as perfect as it could be but these days CNC machining can turn out even tiny parts with tremendous precision. Just ask Rolex or Omega. Do you think all the great ASPH lenses we enjoy now are being hand ground? People want highly paid German techs in Wetzlar to file their seer but they complain about the price of an M-A. Do the math.

We have it good, in part because the assemblers have it good. I'm OK with that. It's a better deal than Apple gives its subs.

I don't get the hand fitted Romance, either. What did they do, take out the dremmel tools and drill away all day long? Drill the inside of the plate, drill this part, drill that part, shim this, shim that, extra thick grease here, no grease there, longer screw here, glue in there?

Kind of silly, imo. And I am a Big M2/3/4/5 fan.

Irrelevant, pointless comment unless you insist on believing the earth flat, weaving your own hair shirt, eating weeds and going barefoot.

The M-A is a perfect alternative to a metered M such as the MP.   Great to still have the option.

I certainly hope that Leica is using different production techniques today than they were 40 or 50 years ago! Hand-fitting? I thought that ended with the IIIc when they went to die-casting.

For me, the brighter viewfinder of the M-A is key, plus the focusing mechanism is supposedly improved (borrowing from digital M advances), and it is new inside.

Brighter viewfinder? As compared to the MP? Is this true? I didn't know that. Do you mean less cluttered? or indeed brighter?
