Advertisement Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 Hi sumolux, Take a look here SL with T lenses?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
G. van Asch Posted March 15, 2016 Share #2  Posted March 15, 2016 I read on the Forum some SL owners use T lenses with good results. I myself ordered the new TL 35mm/1.4 because it is light and and smaller. My SL 24-90 will be the most importent lens. There are various reviews off the SL with T lenses even with the T 55-135mm ( is 80-200mm) I think this will be a handy lens as well. Gerjan
adamdewilde Posted March 17, 2016 Share #3  Posted March 17, 2016 The SL focuses the T lenses faster then the T does. And the SL is definitely more sure footed. I think due to increase in AF processor speed. It can react to catching focus faster.  I don't know how I feel about the crop mode yet. I'd rather go the other way around and use the S lenses.. But I might end up with a 23mm just for the odd time my wife wants to play with the camera (smaller and lighter).
G. van Asch Posted March 17, 2016 Share #4 Â Posted March 17, 2016 I ordered the new TL 35/1.4 for my SL. It then is a 50mm lens. If I use this lens on the T is it in that situation 35mm?

I believe you have it reversed.  The 35 on the T is subject to its crop factor, so its field of view approximates a 50mm but, on the full-frame SL, 35mm is 35mm. CheshireCat Posted March 18, 2016 Share #6  Posted March 18, 2016 A 35mm lens will always remain a 35mm lens on any sensor. However, the TL 35/1.4 is an APS-C lens and won't cover the full frame sensor. This means that it will be cropped on the SL to match the same field of view as on a T camera, and that means that the resulting image will have a field of view equivalent to that of a 50mm lens that covers a full frame sensor.  The problem of using an APS-C lens on the SL is that the resulting image will be limited to 10 MP.
Athornton Posted March 18, 2016 Share #7 Â Posted March 18, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) One unexpected benefit of using T lenses on the SL is that the field of view is the same whether taking stills or 4K video. Â I would encourage people to try T lenses on the SL, they work remarkably well, and 10MP is not too shabby for most uses.

In this forum's member gallery currently "Porsche 911 whaletail, was a quick first photo taken with the SL and the 18-56mm lens. I have done others and will take many more. I am more than happy with the T lenses and can therefore wait for full-frame SL lenses to come.
ynp Posted March 25, 2016 Share #9 Â Posted March 25, 2016 After 2 weeks of very occasional use, my Leica apo-Vario-Elmar T 55-135mm stopped working properly. Any zoom changes provoke nasty noises from the lens. It was my only AF lens on the SL.

Touching wood mine is fully functional and in my view a great lens.Indeed, it's a great lens and the image quality was very good. I bought the lens in France, I am in Moscow now and hope to get some assistance from my Moscow dealer. I will be seeing the Moscow dealer tomorrow. Â P.S. Â Put my trusty M5 with a Konica lens the briefcase for the weekend. After my three Leica AF lenses got broken down, I want to use the most UnLeicaLike Leica with some UnLeica lenses. I know, I'm being silly.

I use the Leica T 23mm for small parties, family and work, when I need not present photo prints that are large and it works beautifully.  The 24-90 is indeed wonderful but it is heavy.  I carried it today on a 3 hour hike and my neck felt it.  Best

AlanJW Posted March 28, 2016 Share #14  Posted March 28, 2016 The 10mp is not a real problem unless you are intending to make very big prints.  This is actually a crop from a frame done with the 23mm. There are times when having autofocus is really useful. This young man is a very quick crawler and the light was not great. Manual focus would have been possible but AF made it much easier.   I didn't want or need the weight of the 24-90 and the 23mm on the SL is very inobtrusive.  I have now ordered the 55-135 T lens to use for Little League games.  (I'm still thinking about the 90-280)   Welcome, dear visitor! garyphx Posted April 7, 2016 Share #15  Posted April 7, 2016 On my SL I have been using my T 23mm lens with great results (the 24-90 zoom is way too heavy and off balance for the SL so I've elected to skip this lens).  I tried using a T 18-56 but get an error message informing me to update the lens firmware.  Fine.  However, there seems to be no way to update the T lens firmware UNLESS one has a T (I do not).  Do any readers know of a way to update T lens firmware from an SL? Bobitybob Posted January 24, 2017 Share #20  Posted January 24, 2017 I have a 18-55 TL which I use with my SL and have posted a number of images on the forum with this combo.  As I brought the SL to use mostly with my R lenses I didn't feel the need to get the 24-90 but thought a lighter TL lens would be useful for those occasions when I wanted AF.  Welcome, dear visitor!
