Advertisement Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 Hi LeicaPassion, Take a look here Which 3 lenses?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
lct Posted March 2, 2016 Share #42 Posted March 2, 2016 A quick comment on the pros/cons of the Biogon 35, based on your extended experiences with M-mount lenses, would be much appreciated! [...] With pleasure Sir! The ZM "C Biogon" 35/2.8 is one of those (very) rare lenses giving me the feeling of near-perfection. Some of us here are fortunate enough to use superb lenses like Summilux, Summicron and so on but most of those gems have a couple of flaws here and there like a bit of flare or focus shift, some slightly harsh bokeh, too much CA and so forth. Lenses like ZM 35/2.8 give me the feeling that they have very little to no flaw at all. Well to be honest it has a bit more vignetting than the Summarit 35/2.5 but hardly more than both Summilux FLE and Summicron asph. Otherwise it has no significant distortion, focus shift nor CA. It is sharp at all apertures, including in edges and corners. It shows very little flare, smooth bokeh and icings on the cake it looks very well made, it is very small, has a butter smooth focus ring, a sturdy and efficient vented hood and it works fine on all my Leica and non Leica bodies including a full frame Kolari mod Sony A7s. Now the ZM 35/2.8 is a very contrasty lens but hardly more than modern Leica lenses like 35/2 asph, 50/2 apo, 90/2 apo and so on. I guess the feeling of contrast comes also from the fact that flare is very limited with this lens but if you're after a soft lens, i'm afraid the ZM 35/2.8 is not for you. Happy snaps! helged Posted March 2, 2016 Share #43 Posted March 2, 2016 Thanks! Having sold the 35Lux FLE due to its harsh bokeh (based on my liking), I may give the Biogon 35 f2.8 a go...
cwolffensperger Posted March 2, 2016 Share #44 Posted March 2, 2016 Easy, my 35/2 Summicron v1, the 50/2 summicron DR and the 90/2 summicron!
andybarton Posted March 25, 2016 Share #45 Posted March 25, 2016 24 Elmarit. 35 Summicron 50 Summicron Because those are the lenses I own and I don't intend to buy any more. I am happy with what I have. Correction. The above post was made before I visited Carl in Norway... Yesterday, I traded my '73 50 Summicron, for a nice, new, shiny, chrome 50 Summilux. That really is it now...
Gregm61 Posted March 25, 2016 Share #46 Posted March 25, 2016 The trio I just completed for my M262, 21mm f2.8 Elmarit ASPH, 35mm f2 Summicron ASPH and 75mm f2 APO Summicron ASPH.

Belle123 Posted March 25, 2016 Share #48 Posted March 25, 2016 Since switching from the M240 to the monochrome M246, I am liking older lenses much more than my newer ones on this camera. So, I am in the process of letting go of my Aspherical lenses and down to three which are: 35mm Summicron (v4 I think, 1994) 50mm Summicron 50 Noctilux 1.
Kolossus Posted March 25, 2016 Share #49 Posted March 25, 2016 90 Macro-Elmar-M (Small, very nice Bokeh) 35 FLE (my 80% lens) Not sure, what lens to chose for uwa: - CV UW-Heliar 15 III - SEM 18 or SEM 21 I hope this will be my last decision to take concerning Leica-glass. Poki Posted March 27, 2016 Share #50 Posted March 27, 2016 Since there aren't any good wide angle options (night landscapes are impossible with the maximum exposure time of 8 seconds on the M 240 at higher ISO values), I have to cheat a little ... ... so I'd take an M with a 50mm APO-Summicron, a 90mm APO-Summicron and a NEX-7 with my trusty Zeiss Touit 12mm f/2.8 (an A7RII with a 21mm Zeiss Loxia might be an option as well, but the Touit renders colors in a way I like more). Now all I need to do is replace my two Summicrons with their APO counterparts.
ECohen Posted March 27, 2016 Share #51 Posted March 27, 2016 Have we missed out a "which two lenses" thread? 3 lens 35f/2 50f/2 90f/4macro 2 lens 35 50 1 lens 35 That 3 lens kit would not be a sacrifice at all. ....Could I occasionally rent a 50mm Noctilux or a 21mm? Did you special order those lenses? Is the 22 sharper than the 21......should I sell my 50 and get the 47? An 80, an 80..... well well which one is better the 80 the 75 or the 90 and then again which 90 ? I was taught never never to crop
EoinC Posted March 28, 2016 Share #56 Posted March 28, 2016 For my M's, I'm happy with my 35 Summilux and 50 Summicron. I don't feel a need or desire for another lens.
coupdefoudre Posted March 28, 2016 Share #57 Posted March 28, 2016 I'll just pick the 3 lenses I use now on my chrome M-P 24 - 16-18-21mm WATE - 35mm Summicron ASPH (chrome) - 85mm Canon f1.9 (a 1959 chrome beauty, weighs a ton but great!) Oh, and for that future thread on "What 4 lenses...?" I'd add a 75mm 1.4, or an -R 80mm, or one of the Noctiluxes (probably the 0,95 as I'm using an M-P 240)
JWW Posted March 28, 2016 Share #58 Posted March 28, 2016 My favorite three:21mm 3.4 ASPH- what a great lens for those scenics or for tight quarters 50mm 2.0 Summicron V4 with tab- I don't use the hood and it's very small and light 75mm 1.4 Summilux- this lens is unique wide open. Vec Posted March 28, 2016 Share #59 Posted March 28, 2016 My three in order of how much I use them: 35 Summilux FLE 50 Summilux Asph 21 Super Elmar I have a 90, 15, and 28 as well, but I don't think I could part with first three. Perhaps 95% of my shots are with those.
otto.f Posted March 28, 2016 Share #60 Posted March 28, 2016 Have we missed out a "which two lenses" thread? I could do with the 35cron iv and the 75lux. If I can't have 5, I'd rather go with 2. It also depends on whether I may have two bodies, MM and M9, or one of them MM: 35 and 75 as above. Although I would miss my 24Elmarit after one year or two M9: 35lux FLE, 90, 135 T-E (assuming I may keep my CV 15 in both cases)
