Is the used market supply of M8's drying up?

Oh man, my autofocus has been giving me trouble since Day 1 - only a few of my shots have been sharp. Worse, I sometimes get a completely black image, even though the viewfinder is working just fine. Can't imagine what's causing that. I knew these cameras were overrated ;-)

Happy New Year.

Some official Leica dealers will not touch the M8 as used stock now as it cannot be warrantied. As is well known, some aspects of the camera can no longer be repaired/replaced, the screen being the most famous example.

Nonetheless it's still a great camera and can be found for a song. I agree it's super for B&W.

I was just emailing with Leica and officially the LCD screen cannot be repaired/replaced, making it difficult to use the camera as you can't see the settings or change them.

That is a shame Lorenzo, this is what puts me off buying another one.  Did Leica give you any alternatives given the LCD is unrepairable?  I know they used to allow a trade up to a newer model.

I am super bummed s well, I was planning for it to be my MM alternative. They said that the sensor can still be replaced/repaired but negative on the LCD. She didn't offer a trade up but to be honest I didn't ask as I am sure that even with a discount, a new M is way out of my price range.

I'm sorry to hear that Lorenzo, very disappointing.

Hey why not ring her back and ask?  If you don't ask you don't get.  Who knows they might have M9 or M-E floating around for exactly this purpose.

Good luck.
