Dee,

excellent stillife: one can see the intention keeping the backdrop blurred and yet achieve the best DOF you can get. I like the grainines because it emphasizes the texture of the subject. The monochrome shades are serving this as well.

The reflection in the glass ould have been controlled by a black paper but it is very good as it is. Love it very much, it is good for my own inspiration....thanks

Iduna,

Wow!....thank you for such a great comment. I'm so pleased that you liked this rather impromptu still life, but that it is inspirational to you goes way beyond my expectations for the image!

With regard to controlling the reflections; for a still life subject such as this I like to let the available light and (the equally available) shadow areas do their own thing once I have placed the object in situ,

the randomness of the result is part of the fun.

Love your still life's Dee.  Always innovative, and beats going out in the dust, heat and nasty light.

Having the jar so close to the edge adds a bit of amusing tension to the image, which should be calming!

cheers  Dave S

There are a lot of truly excellent photographers on this forum, but only a handful who are pure artists who use the camera as a medium for expressing their artistic vision. You are definitely in that small group.

The placement of the jar, the background which compliments the color of the acorns, even the one acorn dangling on the edge of the jar--everything in the image works in concert.
