Mornnb Posted January 1, 2016 Share #21 Posted January 1, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Which raw converter have you been using if i may ask? Just curious as i have never had the least colour issue out of Capture One with the Sony sensors i've used so far. I have no experience with the D800E though. Adobe Lightroom. And I would not say there are colour issues with Sony sensors, but I do find the combination of a CMOSIS sensor with Leica glass tends to produce better results in terms of colour accuracy/tonality. For the moment, I have decided not to buy a new M240. I will look out for lightly used second hand ones and wait out the next 6 months and re evaluate my needs/wants at that time. In the meantime, I will try and put the 50 and 35 Luxes to better use on my M6. Thanks once again - you guys are awesome... Cheers, Ramesh The M240 is a great camera that produces great photos. And purchasing one second hand is a wise idea given it will be replaced by a new model soon. Go for it, I expect you will find you won't have much of a reason to upgrade given how able the M240 is. Advertisement Posted January 1, 2016 Posted January 1, 2016 Hi Mornnb, Take a look here Buying M240. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
lct Posted January 1, 2016 Share #22 Posted January 1, 2016 I hardly see significant differences pesonally, save that M240 files are a bit more difficult to develop in C1 due to a yellow cast i don't find out of other cameras. Same for clippings in the red channel which are rather stronger out of the M240. But all in all, i get the colors i expect from most of my cameras so i am sometimes surprised when i read statements like yours. But you're not alone by far so it's just me most probably . Myvalko Posted January 15, 2016 Share #23 Posted January 15, 2016 Hi Ramesh, I wanted a mint Leica couple of years ago, then I bought a brand new M9 whcih still works perfectly but It lost half of its values in nearly 4 years. I would say, buy second hand and spend more on glasses. For me the M9 is still a very good stuff, if you don't bother about poor screen and if you don't want live view. You can use all lenses also on the M6. It seems that a new camera will be realeased in September but maybe you will have to wait some times before having it. So maybe older digital now and newer later?

In the meantime, I am doing a fair amount of shooting with my M6 with a variety of film stock. Recently I made a digital enlargement (16X20) print from one of the scans and I was quite pleased with the quality and sharpness of the print. I have made a few 8X10 B&W wet prints in my home lab, and again very pleased with the process as well as the outcomes.
PaulJohn Posted January 16, 2016 Share #25 Posted January 16, 2016 I very recently bought the M-P 240 for street and family occasions intending to use my D810 for landscapes but I am so blown away by the files from the M-P that I am using it for landscapes too (although it can't do long exposures very well). It has easily exceeded my expectations. The main thing for me is that I love using something that is very well made. My camera phone can take great photos but the inspiration score of using it is zero. My favourite camera is my M4. Nearly 50 years old and beautifully made. colonel Posted January 17, 2016 Share #26 Posted January 17, 2016 Personally I think the second hand M240 price is very good at the moment. I don't think it will drop much with the new M. £500 over 1 year maybe. The new price is also pretty good if you know where to look. I look at camera cost less sales cost divided by the time I am using it. If you are prepared to pay £500-£1000 in depreciation a year for your hobby then it's well worth having the camera you want, peanuts compared to golf, watches, handbags or boats

colonel Posted January 17, 2016 Share #28 Posted January 17, 2016 Covers the cost of film, developing & scanning. I calculated that one film a week is around £1000, so actually more expensive then the depreciation of a second camera ......
