chris_yu Posted December 25, 2015 Share #1 Posted December 25, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) I understand that all the Leica camera accessories or parts products have transparent seals as shown,in order to prove they have not been tampered with by others. What about the packaging on Lenses and Cameras, are they using the same treatments? Guest Posted December 25, 2015 Share #4 Posted December 25, 2015 Whenever finding one or two, they should be kept carefully, being collectibles and catalogued accordingly
Monochrome Posted December 25, 2015 Share #5 Posted December 25, 2015 Opened my new M262 yesterday (!) but didn't see any. Packaging was a silver cardboard box, with some stickers on it. Inside was a beautiful black box, with another luxury grey/black box showing the Leica logo containing the actual camera body. The camera was wrapped in a non sealed plastic bag. The black box has two drawers, one holding the manuals and garanty card, the other has all the accessoiries like the battery and loader. Each of these are in a seperate silk bag! LocalHero1953 Posted December 25, 2015 Share #6 Posted December 25, 2015 Whenever finding one or two, they should be kept carefully, being collectibles and catalogued accordingly NB There is a ROM version and a 3-cam version. Only the 3-cam version is valuable. They are indistinguishable from each other.
jaapv Posted December 25, 2015 Share #7 Posted December 25, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) You should be careful - Alibaba offers fake seals ( in batches of 10.000 for 20$) to put on pre-opened boxes, and you can only distinguish them from the originals because they are yellowish-transparent instead of transparent-yellowish. It will impact the value of the box severely if you get a fake.
gpwhite Posted December 25, 2015 Share #8 Posted December 25, 2015 This is not at all the story that I have heard from the Leica brand police. Apparently, the packaging stickers used now at the Wetzlar final QC stand are discernible from fakes because they are "technologically different" than other packaging stickers. jaapv Posted December 26, 2015 Share #9 Posted December 26, 2015 Yes, but they have a QC problem at Wetzlar. It seems some boxes have been delivered with blueish-transparent stickers.
