PaulJohn Posted December 8, 2015 Share #1 Posted December 8, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) I got a copy of LR6 with my MP but dont need it as I have LRCC. I do occasionally use Photoshop which is included in LRCC otherwise I would be happy to give up continual updates and stop my subscription. What do others do? Sell it on ebay, save it for resale value, give it away or forget about it? Or did you cancel LRCC?
Advertisement Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 Hi PaulJohn, Take a look here What to do with Lightroom?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
douglas fry Posted December 8, 2015 Share #2 Posted December 8, 2015 I have Lightroom CC and Photoshop CC but the results are mixed, and the colours are variable. I wish I had stuck with Photoshop 6 as really these days its just a vehicle for plugins rather than any full scale photoshopping as such. I much prefer the colours from CaptureOne, the workflow is clumsier but it is faster on a 6 core Mac Pro than LR ever was and there are so many really good tutorials online to get you going.. I haven't tried CaptureOne 9 yet though if its a step up from version 8, I think I will cancel my CC subscription and continue with C1Pro and Ps6
CheshireCat Posted December 8, 2015 Share #3 Posted December 8, 2015 I don't like the CC model, so I buy Photoshop and Lightroom updates every time they offer new features I like.
Belle123 Posted December 8, 2015 Share #4 Posted December 8, 2015 Question, is Lightroom we get with the camera transferable to another owner? My guess is not. Think it's tied to registering the camera.......but I could be wrong. Lots of power and cool things to do in Lightroom. If not familiar, suggest looking up tutorials on Youtube? There are a ton. Perpetual use, but not outright ownership. Unless you have the full retail pack with CD It's just a licence to download and use. eBay protect owners of software copyright by monitoring illegal sales of software licences (registration code) and pulling them off the system. They have a strict policy to discourage illegal sales. I was blocked on eBay for 1 year after trying to resell some Microsoft software. Some Adobe products limit the number of concurrent users so multiple distribution of the same code will be sensed by Adobe and a screen warning may be generated. Maybe you can sell the TAN number, but again, it's limited to two downloads and you would be agreeing to conditions that very few of us actually read. pedaes Posted December 8, 2015 Share #7 Posted December 8, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) I don't like the CC model, so I buy Photoshop and Lightroom updates every time they offer new features I like. I understood interim upgrades are only available to CC users. I think LR6 users will need to purchase LR7 to get any upgrades made to LR6. Also the LR licence linked to a TAN number may also be tied to date TAN issued.

Not so....interim updates are available to LR6 perpetual users....it's just that Adobe, as usual, has made everything harder to find and access, likely in an attempt to encourage customers to migrate to CC. I contacted Julieanne Kost and she confirmed perpetual user access to interim updates. One needs to go to Help > Updates and use the Adobe Application Manager, not CC.....these are not automatically installed...and one can skip versions if desired. Belle123 Posted December 8, 2015 Share #10 Posted December 8, 2015 If were me, if there was any question about selling a TAN number given to us via Leica purchase legally, would not do it. If Ebay rejects those transactions, probably best to not mess with it. Has anyone else sold their Lightroom TAN number on Ebay?
wda Posted December 8, 2015 Share #11 Posted December 8, 2015 I have not sold any TANs; but there is nothing to stop passing them onto new owners of your equipment on sale provided you have not used them. If you go to Leica Owners site where you register your equipment, you will see whether your entitlement has shrunk with historic use.

Well, giving away and selling two different things, as is selling it with your camera. Guess I will look into the info out of curiosity. Since the OP mentioned selling on Ebay his copy of LR separate from the camera, would be nice to know if a good idea or not just so doesn't get into trouble. Better safe than sorry.
