coupdefoudre Posted January 29, 2018 Share #501 Posted January 29, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) The 21 SEM seems to be one of the top favorite wide angle lenses. There is no love lost on a Zeiss Hologon 16/8. Oh well. Post some! I've not used the Hologon and know almost nothing about it.

Raid Amin Posted January 29, 2018 Share #502 Posted January 29, 2018 DAG has the lens now. It takes 3-4 weeks for the conversion to M. Then I will try it out.

TheGodParticle/Hari Posted January 29, 2018 Share #505 Posted January 29, 2018 No 21mm Super-Angulon f/3.4 fans? (I'm interested in this lens -- (I'm film only)). Love it, but mostly for B&W work. The Italian flag syndrome at the edges on digital M’s restricts my color usage and I don’t like dealing with cornerfix. Also, the lens doesn’t mount on the SL.

Raid Amin Posted February 3, 2018 Share #508 Posted February 3, 2018 I have used a Canon FD 17/4 for many years on Leica M film bodies with Canon Adapter B. A great lens indeed.

Abram Posted February 25, 2018 Share #519 Posted February 25, 2018 No 21mm Super-Angulon f/3.4 fans? (I'm interested in this lens -- (I'm film only)). Actually I'm very much a fan of the Super Angulon 21mm. I had one last year and deeply regretted selling it and wound up buying another one just recently. I am still very interested in purchasing the SEM 21 eventually but the SA21 is a truly special old lens. I like using it digitally but only for black and white (which is primarily what I do anyways) but it is so beautiful on film. It helps to meter externally as it does throw off the internal meter of the camera by a considerable amount, but both of my film M bodies are meter less anyways so it's of little consequence there. I have heard that the later ones (post 25xxxxx serial number) had the most improved coatings and were the ones to get, but my latest one is a very early chrome model, from 1964 and honestly it renders wonderfully so I don't know how much weight I would give that statement. Just find one that has clean glass and you're good to go! Make sure it has the hood and ideally the finder as well otherwise you're going to pay a lot extra to get them.
