Mirek,

I've only had the 24-90 for two weeks and simply haven't had an opportunity to test the zoom formally or extensively, but I feel confident stating that in my eyes the 24-90 VE zoom is close enough to the primes in the most important performance areas, for the chief determining factor of which camera / lens combination I use for future outings, photo trips and / or particular images will not be image quality,  rather, which set-up is the more practical, convenient and logical to use, because I feel that the two mentioned primes and the Vario-Elmar perform very similarly in most important parameters. I think most of us will know a lot more after a year or so of intensive use of the new SL and it's dedicated lenses under a variety of conditions. Never forget the speed of the Lux lenses, which is probably primarily responsible for the unique rendering of these 2 current Summilux lenses, but I feel the SL Vario-Elmar is optically a 'smoother' lens in comparison to the 2 primes we're discussing.

Personally, I expect the whole equation / debate of M lenses vs. the SL dedicated zooms will take on a whole new dimension after the introduction of the 50 f1.4 AF lens for the SL.

You state you're happy with the 50 Cron & the 35 Summarit - I too consider a 50 Cron a wonderful & perfectly satisfactory lens (which I will never part with ), but I respectfully submit you'd be happier with a 35 Asph, Cron. The long and short of it is.........it's simply a better lens than the Summarit.

Thanks John.  I much appreciate your wisdom. Agree about the upcoming debate when the 50mm SL lens is out ... However I'd rather choose the much smaller M mount 50 summilux for its size than the upcoming lens' AF feature; very happy to focus manually on the SL.

My choice of the Summarit lenses (I have the newer f2.4 ASPH of 35 and 90) were dictated by initial outlay when I was growing into the Leica world: while maintaining my top range Canon system, I played with Fuji and then Sony mirrorless bodies + M lenses.

Time to upgrade summarits to summicrons next it seems? Although the new summarits are now much improved ASPH versions, I am not sure how much better the more expensive crons would be ... Would you rather do this, or spend on the 90-280 zoom first? It's the question I'm trying to answer myself at the moment.

My first shots with the SL.  I'm still at the bottom of the learning curve on this new camera.  I really love it but I'm still learning!

The indoor shot was an antique store using existing light and my 28 cron M.  I had to take a "brick wall" shot...with a twist.  I don't remember which lens I used for this one.  The tulips were with my 75 cron M.

Thanks,

Mark

Indeed, the brick wall shot is with a twist, the wall is twisted, on an angle, rather than parallel to the sensor  :D

Nice images.
