Sometimes the most beautiful bird is the one one who'll sit for a picture . . . 

SL with Vario-Elmar 80-200mm + APO-Extender-R 2X, f/8, ISO 1600, cropped at about 60%  . . . first outing with this combination . . .

Even in drizzly, gloomy weather, and with a backlit subject it impresses.  Hoping for some sunshine tomorrow . . .

Striated Heron goes fishing at the "cement pond" . . . 

SL with Vario-Elmar 80-200mm + APO-Extender-R 2x . . . first time I've ever seen feather detail like this from any zoom/2X combination (more in the original than the small file posted here) . . . 

BTW, why is the website shrinking my 900+ kb file to just over 300kb?  No wonder it looks so sh***y when I post it.

Even with the websites image size reduction, your photos are amazing. Your VE 80-200 does not have IS so I presume you are using a tripod. Thank-you for posting these wonderful shots.
