Hi, Rick - I remember!  I'm still on the LUG, including the LUG Facebook page ;-)    Yes, I used auto-focusing on the SL.  There is no way I could have focused without it!  It has the laser beam to help focus in no light, but nobody ever noticed it.  I took 72 photos in that light and every one of them is perfectly focused.  I can also use my Noctilux again with the focus assists on the SL.  It's fantastic!

Thanks Tina. I'll have a look at that Facebook page. I'm curious as to who is still around.  :)

Your comment about the laser beam has sparked some thoughts, i.e. would it assist the user in focussing an M or R lens in really dark conditions, or is it only of benefit to autofocussing SL and perhaps S lenses? What does the beam do? Project a pattern of red or infra-red lines onto the subject? Or is it more of a broad beam of light? If lines, are they visible on the subject, or in the viewfinder? Can the beam be triggered manually or does it only work when the SL and native lens system detects low light? I guess it can be inactivated if desired.

Sorry for all the questions,  it's just that I was using my pre 0.95 Noctilux on my M9 last night, taking pics at my daughter's school presentation night. In difficult light I managed to get a few good pics - and some blurry ones. The OOF effects and subject isolation was worth the effort. I said to my wife once or twice, 'Geez, an SL would be good here, with this lens on it.' I didn't mention the new Nocti. Well, not until a bit later. From what I've seen that lens costs quite a bit more than an SL itself.  :o

I have been hanging around here for quite some time, enjoying the photographs and comments posted here, and so it is time I jump in with some shots taken with the SL.  It is only natural that I start with Piper, who guards my Leica stuff when I am not around.  :)
