That's a fabulous picture, and I think it's the best I've seen with that lens. With the CL, I've always thought it didn't quite get to the level of your 180mm APO-Elmarit-R, but with the SL I think it might. Have you found that to be the case? Maybe the lens just needs the bigger sensor? I'm assuming you were shooting in full mode rather than in aps_c mode.....

Thanks for that observation, Ken, as it affirms what I thought, too.  For years I've been mostly using FF for non-telephoto shots and APS-C for reach.  I was really surprised at how well this lens/TC combination worked on the SL, especially in heavily overcast conditions.  Given sufficient reach, the SL is a superb tool for critter shots.
