My new macro.

I have very little experience with macro shooting.  This was taken with my newly acquired R 100mm apo Elmarit on the SL.  What I have learned so far is that it is very difficult to take a macro hand held and even more difficult to capture an insect buzzing around the flower with a very slow focusing manual, macro lens, hand held!  It was just too hot today to carry a tripod with me.  I will try not to make that mistake again.  When I do get it right however, this lens/camera combo is terrific.

Thanks,

Mark

You've convinced me. That's clearly the way to go for macro on the SL until a SL macro lens arrives. I have no doubt the R macros are great, but I'd rather have AF.

Yes, never underestimate a good achromatic supplementary close-up lens; Leica provided them for many years for the R system and latterly for the D2 and S lenses.

1957 Chevrolet Corvette C1 displayed at the Bourne Classic Car & Bike Carnival, June 19 2016; the car is owned by a lady.  Bourne in Lincolnshire UK is the home of BRM racing cars. This year's classic car show was 'under new management' and exhibits were spread throughout the town in streets, car parks and some in the park. The jury is still 'out' deciding if they preferred the previous years' arrangement whereby all vehicles were in the park. The bikes (pictures to follow) were far too cramped in a small car park to fully appreciate.

The Itom is very lightweight

… that's 160 brake horse power per litre

The German Kreidler is the faster machine

… 380 b.h.p. / litre - over twice as powerful as the older Itom.

All 50cc racing bikes have a very narrow power band
