Beautiful Breads. Unfortunately the bakery in our village closed. it is not easy to get traditionally baked bread today.
Here the next good bakery is 20km away. Started to bake my own sourdough bread…

The "village" where the bakery is located is a place out of time.  So many "characters" coming in the shop as we sat down and enjoyed some coffee, scones, and sticky buns. A long haired, 'elderly' man sitting on a bench at a table, poring over a Hemingway book in his hand, and a journal on the table as he took copious notes!  So glad we stumbled upon it.

More of Alcatraz (SL w S120)

In the bottom photo, one can see the main housing for prisoners on the top of the island. Cell sizes were described thusly: 'stretch your hands as wide as you can and then reach as tall as you can'.  The most incorrigible were housed here.

Carrying both you SL and S to California, Rob. Now that's dedication!

Yes, it is!  So much so, that I have left my S gear for appraisal at Leica San Francisco. I've now learned how one's back can suffer 'gas' pains.

We're going to California next week, and I'm trying to keep myself limited in cameras and lenses, but it's tough!!

I know your confusion.

Where to?  We were in Sonoma, Napa, and S.F.

We'll be hiking in the Carmel/Monterey area, then attending our son's wedding there (he's got a fantastic bride!), and then hiking again. Alas, not getting up to the Bay Area this trip.

Hope you're trip's been good, Rob!
