x

These results are simply astonishing.

Damn... I'm going to have to ignore this thread for a while...

Not helped by Thighslapper letting me know he did so little PP!!!

Then every photo posted since that post was just like adding salt in the wound.

I am not sure what it is, but there is something about that SL sensor and the associated software which is simply stunning. I take it these are all DNG files, but with (annoyingly) very little work.

(If anyone says these are straight jpegs I'll have an M to sell... :( ).

Boy vs chocolate

SL 24-90, at 90, f/4, 1/80s, ISO 10,000.

My Lightroom import preset has slight sharpening by default, but no noise reduction. Slight adjustment to white balance is the only extra pp, otherwise SOOC, no cropping.

One thing I have found that is a huge advantage over the M series sensors is the handling of reds ...... on the M this would usually be overexposed/blown and no amount of fiddling would get the colour true ...... this is pretty close to the true colour and without any PP.

The SL delivers very nice reds indeed.

But as to the reds of the M, I respectfully disagree.

I find the magenta to be a bit too much on my SL DNG files. I have a preset to change red hue to +25 (HSL tab in LR) on import, to correct this issue with embedded camera profile. Yes, I change red hue and not magenta :( Anyone else noticed this issue?

None of you are helping...!

Maybe what I want is an M with the same sensor and output as you guys are getting on your SL's... I like the form factor of the M, but love the results you are all getting.

:)

Also with optional EVF to match one on SL, Most of all this thread demonstrates good framing and focus.  When I took SL for a test drive with Summilux M 75mm I got images pin sharp at maximum aperture after holding a camera in my hands for less than a minute...only went to buy M246.

I like the red hues of the SL. But lately I have seen some macro photos taken with Macro S 120 on an S2. They impressed me.

So I would like to try this lens on the SL. Has anybody here bought the S to L adapter and has tried the S macro lens ? Please come forward and show your results.

Here an example taken with this lens on S2 (I really like the colors and detail of this wild rose):  https://www.flickr.com/photos/royprasad/6300608481/in/photostream/lightbox/

Also the following 5 or 6 macro shots are great (white rose).

Sorry thighslapper, your shot is nice. But compare the S photo to <1706>: There is a lot of differentiation in the red hues of the rose, but I do not know if this is nature or PP or the lens or the sensor or the light or a (polarizing) filter (or the forum restrictions).  :rolleyes:
