I love the little 50cc racers, dunk!

You're making me nostalgic with these photos.

Way back in the mists of time, I had the joy of watching the Honda 50cc four stroke twins run. Incredible what they were able to get out of those tiny cylinders in the 1960s. I also had the pleasure of seeing the astonishing Honda 125cc 5-cylinder once ... essentially, five of the Honda 50's cylinders siamesed together on a single crankshaft with common crank. Tiny, tiny thing ... I never heard it run. I remember when Rob Iannucci refurbished a Honda 250 Six and brought it to Daytona Speed Week for an exhibition lap in 1996, however. It made an absolutely deafening racket—you could hear it loud and clear no matter where it was on that vast track. Incredible stuff.

I also had the pleasure of seeing the 1957 Moto Guzzi 500cc V8 Gran Prix bike when it was restored and presented at the Moto Guzzi 75th Anniversary Raduno at the factory in Italy, again 1996. Sadly, I missed the time when they fired it up, but what an astonishing piece of machinery that is..!
