Steve Ricoh Posted October 21, 2015 Share #2 Posted October 21, 2015 The contrast smoke to background is brilliant, and excellently controlled. Really nice shot.

MT0227 Posted October 21, 2015 Share #4 Posted October 21, 2015 Shooting into the light is always fun. Nice shot!
A miller Posted October 22, 2015 Author Share #5 Posted October 22, 2015 Thank you, Steve, Paulino and Marc. Shooting into the light is most fun with a film camera, as a good quality digitized negative has a wide latitude in the highlights. It would be extremely challenging to capture this scene in this way with a digital camera, particularly a Monochrom (at least the first version). I wish you all lots of fun shooting scenes like this with your film Ms, whether currently owned or soon to be acquired Best, Adam

A miller Posted October 22, 2015 Author Share #8 Posted October 22, 2015 Thanks, JD. Hope you are well. HollyMolly. Amazing shot Adam. What that cold related or smoke? Funny, Rodrigue. It was well below freezing and the woman was, indeed, smoking a cigarette.

MarkP Posted October 23, 2015 Share #10 Posted October 23, 2015 Nice one Adam. Agree with the point about the exposure latitude with film for such photographs. Much harder with digital
A miller Posted October 23, 2015 Author Share #11 Posted October 23, 2015 Nice one Adam. Agree with the point about the exposure latitude with film for such photographs. Much harder with digital right on, Mark, which is why I no longer use digital cameras. They don't give me anything other than convenience. And I am willing to sacrifice this for better photographs with lasting interest elements...
Suede Posted October 30, 2015 Share #12 Posted October 30, 2015 What a wonderful photograph! Simply stunning with all the elements I can think of insofar as what a great photo should be...perfect (for me). Classic camera, film, against the light, great rendering, good focus, spot-on timing, atmosphere . . . I am using my M6 more and more with black and white but I have not been able to produce something like this, though I aspire to. Just yesterday, I returned from Berlin where I went to an exhibition called "100 years of Leica Photography". There were some great exhibits from the masters on display and your photograph resonated with what I saw. Congratulations, A miller. Take a bow, man.
