Advertisement Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Hi cpclee, Take a look here first images of the new SL. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
cpclee Posted October 20, 2015 Author Share #2 Posted October 20, 2015 no offense but a digital R would be much more interesting than this
barjohn Posted October 20, 2015 Share #3 Posted October 20, 2015 It appears to be a Q inside with the T mount in a Sony SLR body and the lenses look huge with no manual aperture ring (at least that we can see in the pictures released so far). At 6,900 Euros for the body only I don't think they will have to worry about deliveries.

rosuna Posted October 20, 2015 Share #5 Posted October 20, 2015 The T was like a Sony NEX and the SL is like a Sony 7... A bit ugly. There are elements from the S... The lenses are huge. They can aggravate the ergonomics/balance problems of the body. The system is very expensive. The body is too expensive (for a backup unit for M lenses, for instance). The technical specifications are state of the art (the EVF, stabilization, etc.). I like it.
Willy ͡° ͜ʖ ͡° Posted October 20, 2015 Share #6 Posted October 20, 2015 Interesting !!! Many comparisons being made to Sony. Here's a question for you all: One has to ask oneself about the currently employed business model of Leica: “Leica SL, the new concept Full Frame” Full frame, great ! But then again, it doesn’t appear to me as if this is so innovating these days. The good news is that Leica seems to validate the Leica T model (aka Mini SL?) with the shift of the SL line to the T-based lenses. Is that the idea of a “new concept”? Don’t get me wrong. That might be a good thing. I kind ‘a like my T lenses. However, the decision to go with a 24MP sensor is very deceiving. Given the current high-MP-availability environment, there is just no apparent rational for this unfortunate decision, and certainly contradicts the notion of a “new concept”. In addition, Leica might have failed to understand that without a true sizeable line of at least 3 prime lenses (24mm, 35mm and maybe a 75mm) and several aperture variations thereof, the new line might have already failed it’s proper initiation. I don’t believe that their offering two zoom lenses changes anything to that effect. After all, there is some stiff competition of some very good, complete-system cameras out there to contend with. Bottom line is that most Leica fans will most likely bite the bullet, and bridge the gap and mount their favorite, proven M (or other) lenses via adapter, hence downgrading a full AUTO camera to a manual. That’s not how I envision making good use of a brand new, “new concept Full Frame”, do-it-all camera, especially after having spent €6,900 (=$7,830). If I was in the market for a good system, I’d get myself a (any) 36+MP camera with an adaptor, put my favorite Leica lens on the body, shoot, and have fun. Hey, it’s not a Leica, but a Leica lens, and the results will be stellar -if you believe in glass being the prime factor of a decent picture, and if you don’t mind having to focus manually. My $.02. cpclee Posted October 20, 2015 Author Share #7 Posted October 20, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) I think you have just described Zeiss' strategy. I hate the confusing names (Otus, Milvus, Loxia, etc) but they just may sell a lot of lenses. Belle123 Posted October 20, 2015 Share #10 Posted October 20, 2015 OMG....please not...please let it be a simple fake. I think possible this is a fake! Look at the photos carefully. The one on the bottom doesn't even have the logos! Maybe, hopefully, someone playing a joke here.......I hope.

GLAUMAX Posted October 20, 2015 Share #13 Posted October 20, 2015 I find it ugly and too expensive. I fear it won't sell well and hope it won't hurt Leica financial health because we still need support and new lenses for the M.
sc_rufctr Posted October 20, 2015 Share #14 Posted October 20, 2015 I think we've been duped. I'd bet that's not it. We'll know soon enough.
wattsy Posted October 20, 2015 Share #15 Posted October 20, 2015 I don't think anyone has been duped and it is wishful thinking to hope that something else is going to be announced tonight. My understanding is that the "no-logo" camera is a prototype that has had the branding disguised to not draw attention. I think Jono has had similar cameras in the past. jip Posted October 20, 2015 Share #19 Posted October 20, 2015 And no DOF scale on the prime? There is no DOF scale on the S lenses either... which I don't like and miss sometimes, especially the wide angles.
