robsteve Posted May 25, 2007 Share #5 Posted May 25, 2007 Betatest of our Classified section is already on its way: http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/classifieds/ Regards Andreas Andreas: Is your linked site and the Leica market site the same site? I just check out your link and the place an add process was identical and with what looked like the same forms.
stunsworth Posted May 25, 2007 Share #6 Posted May 25, 2007 Robert, the Leica Market site is completely different with no connection to either here or Leica.
robsteve Posted May 25, 2007 Share #7 Posted May 25, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Robert, the Leica Market site is completely different with no connection to either here or Leica. Except they seem to have the same software and general layout. Perhaps it is just a canned package.
stunsworth Posted May 25, 2007 Share #8 Posted May 25, 2007 I'm sure it is the same software Robert, few people have deep enough pockets to develop a bespoke 'eBay' type of package - in the same way that the forum software here is the same used at Rangefinder.com. robsteve Posted May 25, 2007 Share #9 Posted May 25, 2007 I'm sure it is the same software Robert, few people have deep enough pockets to develop a bespoke 'eBay' type of package - in the same way that the forum software here is the same used at Rangefinder.com. I created a listing on both systems and even the categories were the same, with the exception of multiple launguages in the category titles for the l-camera-forum version. That is why I thought they may be the same site but just different urls or versions of it. Sort of like Ebay UK looks different than Ebay Canada. newyorkone Posted May 25, 2007 Share #11 Posted May 25, 2007 I'm not certain but I thought it was copyright infringement to own a domain name with a brand name?
andybarton Posted May 25, 2007 Share #12 Posted May 25, 2007 It is. There are many precedents which provide rules regarding cybersquatting, copyright infringement and the like.

stunsworth Posted May 25, 2007 Share #14 Posted May 25, 2007 I'm not certain but I thought it was copyright infringement to own a domain name with a brand name? Leica would not allow Andreas to have the word 'Leica' in this relaunched forum. I hope Leica have granted Guy and Ed an exemption in their for sale forum. Otherwise I think the lawyers will be in touch.
robsteve Posted May 25, 2007 Share #15 Posted May 25, 2007 url? Peter: There is a typo in the thread title. The site is ***********, not LeicaMart.
farnz Posted May 26, 2007 Share #16 Posted May 26, 2007 Andreas, May I suggest that each item for sale has a field showing its location please? I've found that shipping costs, VAT and duty affect my purchasing decisions on a well known auction site and would equally apply here. Otherwise - great news! Incidentally, will the classified section be restricted to Leica equipment or will other relevant brands, for example Voigtlander, be permitted too? Pete. Posted a 'Wanted to Buy' ad for the same lens. See how that goes. Thanks for creating a place to do that.
robsteve Posted May 26, 2007 Share #19 Posted May 26, 2007 I just sold my 75mm Summicron there too. I tried listing it on Andreas site too, but the listing didn't get approved yet. On both sites the listings need to go through an approval process. This is probably a good thing and will keep the spam off the sites.
Eoin Posted May 26, 2007 Share #20 Posted May 26, 2007 Rob, The buy and sell forum is only in beta testing, items are not for sale there yet. I think it says this in the main page THIS IS A BETATEST - NO REAL TRANSACTIONS So it will be a little while before your transactions are approved .
