Advertisement Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 Hi ibramr, Take a look here Leica Hood 12585h on Summarit 35mm. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
TomB_tx Posted September 10, 2015 Share #2  Posted September 10, 2015 The 12585 is intended for the older 39mm lenses that have a retaining groove for the clip tabs in the hood. The 39mm Summarit 35 f2.5 is designed with an external thread (normally covered by a supplied trim ring) for the rectangular screw-on hood 12459. I just tried the 12585 on my 35 Summarit f2.5. It will not fit over the trim ring, but with the trim ring removed it will fit over the external thread and somewhat clip in place. Because the thread on the front of the lens is short, it doesn't seem very secure, unless you also have a filter fitted to the internal 39mm thread. I would also think the filter clip tabs could damage the external threads on the lens. I have only used the 12585 on 50 mm lenses, and suspect it may vignet a bit on 35 corners. I used the 12504 hood on my 35 Summicron v1 & v2. The12549 Summarit rectangular hood is excellent on the 35. The lens is quite flare resistant, but the hood helps a lot shooting toward light sources.
