Brenton C Posted September 9, 2015 Share #27 Posted September 9, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Sanding down to the yellow that lies beneath the silvery plating that lies beneath the black surface is not yet definitive. It could be brass plating over zinc beneath. You will have to keep going!

Manoleica Posted September 9, 2015 Share #29 Posted September 9, 2015 I'm intrigued as to how the camera body whether Zinc, Brass or whatever dictates the quality of the image produced! It's all Brass Monkeys..
Matlock Posted September 9, 2015 Share #30 Posted September 9, 2015 I'm intrigued as to how the camera body whether Zinc, Brass or whatever dictates the quality of the image produced! It's all Brass Monkeys.. Quite right. Leica considered Zinc to be OK for some time and, apart from some cosmetic problems early on, this has proved to be true. I have a M6TTL with Zinc top plate and a M7 with Brass top plate. If I put my, say 28mm, lens on each camera the results will be exactly the same. I think it all comes down to the fact that we are all camera snobs .
