Guest NEIL-D-WILLIAMS Posted August 18, 2015 Share #450 Posted August 18, 2015 I am still hoping for an S sized sensor in a mirrorless body. Pico you should take a look at the S it isn't that much bigger than the M and with the IQ so so much better I am sure you would get a whole bunch of enjoyment out of it
Guest NEIL-D-WILLIAMS Posted August 18, 2015 Share #451 Posted August 18, 2015 Come on Neil we all want another M. Algrove mate; I would have thought you would have snapped yourself up a new S while the prices have been slashed
Jeff S Posted August 18, 2015 Share #452 Posted August 18, 2015 .... the S it isn't that much bigger than the M.... Those oil fumes must cause brain fog.... The S lenses alone are HUGE....not even counting the hoods. Jeff
Guest NEIL-D-WILLIAMS Posted August 18, 2015 Share #453 Posted August 18, 2015 Those oil fumes must cause brain fog.... The S lenses alone are HUGE....not even counting the hoods. Jeff Jeff now you know that is exaggerating a wee bitty...............last week I went for a walk around a open market in Lagos with my Leica S, 70mm attached and two extra lenses and it was effortless carrying those. I had the S around my neck and the other 2 lenses in a Harley Small.........Unfortunately the first time I went to take a picture in the market it caused a huge commotion and me and the driver jumped in the jeep and got the hell out of there before we were lynched ................ scary shit. But saying that carrying the S and the two lenses was a doddle, no different to carrying the M the MM and 3 lenses.
Jeff S Posted August 18, 2015 Share #454 Posted August 18, 2015 Jeff now you know that is exaggerating a wee bitty.............. Does the picture show up on your screen? And why would I want to carry 2 cameras and 3 lenses? I use the M with one lens and maybe one small lens in my pocket. If I put an S lens in my pocket, I think the only benefit might be more dates. Guest NEIL-D-WILLIAMS Posted August 18, 2015 Share #455 Posted August 18, 2015 And why would I want to carry 2 cameras and 3 lenses? I don't..........I used to until I got the S,....................... now the S gets better IQ pictures in both colour and black and white so no need for two M bodies Win win situation
Guest NEIL-D-WILLIAMS Posted August 18, 2015 Share #456 Posted August 18, 2015 Those oil fumes must cause brain fog.... The S lenses alone are HUGE....not even counting the hoods. Jeff Since when did Jeremy Clarkson work with Leica ???
Jeff S Posted August 18, 2015 Share #457 Posted August 18, 2015 I don't..........I used to until I got the S,....................... now the S gets better IQ pictures in both colour and black and white so no need for two M bodies Win win situation You're the one who mentioned carrying the M and MM. I have zero need....the M suffices performs superbly for my color and b/w prints. I even took a few minutes to make sure my RF was perfect by comparing to LV. Regarding Jeremy, only when Stefan needs a video stand-in.... Jeff
algrove Posted August 19, 2015 Share #458 Posted August 19, 2015 Algrove mate; I would have thought you would have snapped yourself up a new S while the prices have been slashed I snatched up a 645Z system since right now Sony MF sensors are the ones to have and Michael Reichmann (Sept 2014 Lula article) feels the Pentax people have gotten the most out of that sensor even compared to Hasselblad and Phase One. And besides the Z sensor is like 26% larger than the S sensors. That extra 14MP helps when printing 36x48. I love 8-12 collaged images giving me a nice file size of around 1.5 GB before even starting with PP.
colonel Posted August 19, 2015 Share #459 Posted August 19, 2015 The S is a monster compared to the M. The 645z is a monster compared to the S. I also think the sensor size is not that different. I almost picked up an S but would never use it for travel.
ayewing Posted August 19, 2015 Share #460 Posted August 19, 2015 Interesting the enthusiasm for these large cameras when most of us are asking Leica to make the newer versions of the M lighter and slimmer, more like the M2 of yore.
