S006

Storm clouds clearing.

Rob

The S files recover really well from an under exposed image so take care of NOT blowing out the highlights like the sky in your image and then let lightroom or ACR recover your image to a nice exposure..........

Yes, Neil, thanks for your comments, as always.

I'm just getting acquainted with the 006 but have now come across a 007, which I'm going to give a go with this weekend, and then decide which to keep/sell. I suspect it'll be the 007 as I want to use the S handheld.

How's Barcelona? I've been watching for your M10/ Nocti photos.

Safe travels.

S 006, SMC-Pentax-M 300mm

I mixed up my shots. This was shot with APO-Elmar-S 180.

The shot below is with the Pentax 300. These are two different Sparrowhawks, a pair of mates. The first shot is the male (black and white) and the second shot is the the female. She is yelling at the male.

A young sparrowhawk born during this spring.

Regards.

This is actually an adult male. His mate was on a nearby tree. I have posted a photo of her also.

He looks small because it is a large tree.

Adult sparrowhawks (as other species in the genius Accipiter) have narrow, horizontal stripes in front. This in contrast to juvenile birds having vertical stripes/drops in front. So if the birds you show are sparrowhawks (hard to see from a cell phone), both species are Yong birds.

Irrespective of the above, nice to see the S as a bird camera! Reminding me about mounting the brilliant 280mm f4 APO R w/1.4 APO extender on the S using the Leiko adapter...

You are correct about the markings. He was very large for a juvenile. Maybe he was not a sparrowhawk, but a buteo lagopus (rough-legged hawk).

Great stuff, Neil!  I've got your Barcelona thread tagged. I'm a big fan of the noctilux so love to see what you are capturing with it.  And, I love your Hb photos as well.

The 007 is next, as I am thinking the 008 is at least 1 year away in terms of availability, so, I might collect a few lenses in the interim and see how I do with medium format.
