My old 006 got traded in for a new 007! It makes the zoom a usable lens, but the primes are still the best.

S(007), 24/3.5, Afternoon Sun.

Jesse,

Some people, myself included, found that the combination of the zoom's small aperture, need to stop down at the longer focal lengths for better sharpness, and the not-great high ISO of the 006, made it more frustrating than pleasurable. With the 007, I can use the zoom stopped down and still get good files at ISO1600 or 3200. What I haven't yet seen is a file from the S+30-90 that wouldn't have been as good with the SL+24-90. (I will test this seriously sometime soon). Of course, I could have a bad copy of the 30-90. It's not that it isn't sharp, it's that the bokeh is weird, and so OOF regions have to be limited. Well, the corners can be a mess, but that's true even of the 24.

I think the S, even the 007, should stick with the glorious primes. With the Peak Designs 10L sling, I can carry two lenses in the bag, one on the camera, and change them quickly in the field. Backpacks are better in many ways, but they make for slow lens changes. (I tried the Mindshifts, and they didn't work for me.)

Best,

Matt

For me I like to take the S007 with one lens (mainly my 120mm sumerlux) and hang that on the Black Rapid sling, I then take my S70mm lens in my photographers vest and when I need to shoot wider than 70mm I stitch from either the 120 or 70mm..........I do this all hand held so no need for a tripod, but silly put my Leica Table Top tripod in my other pocket just incase i need a must have shot on a tripod. My S30mm is now basically redundant

Neil,

I tend to shoot very wide. I can use the 45 and shoot a pano instead of using the 24, but anything longer than that would take a LOT of frames. The 100 or 120 and the zoom is another possibility.

Too many lenses!

Matt in that case then take your 120 and your 45 when there is a lot of hiking in-between shots, and leave more lens in the car.................I do really like your wide angle shots BTW
