jdlaing Posted August 11, 2015 Share #184 Posted August 11, 2015 I don't use an EVF on lenses wider than 28. Neither do a lot of other people.
lct Posted August 11, 2015 Share #185 Posted August 11, 2015 Any EVF will beat a Visoflex for lenses wider than 35mm for sure.

Well, that will save you some money by not buying one, and the cherry on the cake is that you have less risk of losing the ridiculously expensive hot-shoe cover. Funny because I always wondered how much one would cost. (I'm serious.)
jaapv Posted August 11, 2015 Share #188 Posted August 11, 2015 I don't recall exactly, but I think it was north of fifty Euro.
AlanJW Posted August 11, 2015 Share #189 Posted August 11, 2015 I don't recall exactly, but I think it was north of fifty Euro. $60 in the US for the OEM version. Less than $10 for a generic replacement. The OEM has some metal in it, but not sure of the purpose. The OEM also covers the EVF port and the generic does not. jaapv Posted August 11, 2015 Share #190 Posted August 11, 2015 Well, that is the whole point of the lid. It is part of the weathersealing of the camera.
CheshireCat Posted August 12, 2015 Share #191 Posted August 12, 2015 I, for one, don't want an EVF on an M. I could be alone, though. Just put some black tape over it. Real men don't need EVF (nor RF).
CheshireCat Posted August 12, 2015 Share #192 Posted August 12, 2015 "oversimplification" is a bit rude, don't you think? I agree that a shifting plane of best focus [...] Sorry, there is no such thing as a plane of best focus. That is the oversimplification I am talking about. Mount the 12mm on your 500 MP sensor, and you don't even have to guess framing. Just crop as required. This is the future of photography !

CheshireCat Posted August 12, 2015 Share #198 Posted August 12, 2015 @ 100fps, I suppose? 120fps (you want a multiple of 30). Oh, and there is no shutter button, because the camera is always shooting. If you find a nice subject, then you just take note of the time and pick the frame you like best later, when you download the pictures. You can't miss the decisive moment, if you capture all moments. Exodies Posted August 12, 2015 Share #199 Posted August 12, 2015 Camera will come with a chin strap so you can mount it on the top of your head. And, of course, a removable baseplate. Because, you know, it's removable. It's always been so.
jrp Posted August 12, 2015 Share #200 Posted August 12, 2015 Trying the focus peaking on the Sony A7R ii, which is pretty good when you magnify, the focus on the 75mm APO Summicron is very delicate. A shade shy of infinity is needed to get perfect focus of far off objects. It's possible that I could get that with a rangefinder, but with my eyes, I doubt it.
