nkbitsch Posted June 4, 2015 Share #1  Posted June 4, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi,  I have the oppertunety to buy a 1940 Grey Leica IIIc.  The thing is, the camera is an early 1940 model, serialnumber 3680XX. And I don't seem to be able to find any information about the value of these early non-K grey IIIc's.  The camera has black (grey) painted strap hooks (which I have never seen before), and a black shutter speed dial.  If you have any information about the value of such a beauty, I would love to hear from you.  The camera comes without lens.  Best, Niels

lleo Posted June 4, 2015 Share #2 Â Posted June 4, 2015 Do you have any pics? I saw some times grey Leicas, but I'm not expert.
jerzy Posted June 4, 2015 Share #3 Â Posted June 4, 2015 Strange, another gray, 368016 is being discussed currently in German Forum. And both seem to have same features which genuine gray Leicas did not have. Same camera or another counterfeit?

jaapv Posted June 4, 2015 Share #6 Â Posted June 4, 2015 Well, at least the basis is not Russian. Badly done, if it looks like this from the outside I have grave doubts about the innards.
luigi bertolotti Posted June 4, 2015 Share #7  Posted June 4, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Yes, not Russian, but originality is highly uneven. But, at least, the seller doesn't claim any special rarity... the look is anyway no bad, and price not indecent for a lover of odd (and simply "odd") Leicas

luigi bertolotti Posted June 5, 2015 Share #9  Posted June 5, 2015 (edited) I don't quite agree on the price Right, about the current bid... .; indeed I hadn't noticed it was an auction... saw just the estimate price and thought that ti was much better than the one for the legendary IIG   Edited June 5, 2015 by luigi bertolotti
jaapv Posted June 5, 2015 Share #10 Â Posted June 5, 2015 A much more interesting item in this auction is a rather clean looking iiif with Leicavit.
Erik van Straten Posted August 18, 2024 Share #11  Posted August 18, 2024 Usually the grey paint is bubbling. If there is no bubbling paint, watch out. I have a non-military grey lllc, No 387xxx. I've read - a long time ago - that the 387xxx series are the first 100 grey IIIc's and they are civilian cameras. Later grey IIIc's have military markings on them.
