lynx220 Posted April 5, 2015 Share #1 Posted April 5, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi I’m a newbie looking for some help with my M240. I just recently purchased a 28mm 2.8 (pre-ashp not coded) and have been shooting with it for a couple of weeks. Yesterday I went to use to my 50mm 1.4 (pre-ashp 6 bit coded) and the framlines are stuck on 28mm/90mm. 50mm/75mm are not being displayed. I’ve shut it down recharged the battery, reset the setting, updated the firmware to 2.0.1.7 and changed out both lens about a dozen times, powering off every time. Any other suggestion? AceVentura1986 Posted April 5, 2015 Share #2 Posted April 5, 2015 The frame line selector is mechanical and linked to the lens mount. I had mine go on my old M8 years ago, except it was stuck on 35mm, which was my standard lens. Eventually had it fixed by Leica NJ.
250swb Posted April 5, 2015 Share #3 Posted April 5, 2015 Hi I’m a newbie..... Are you by any chance keeping your finger on the lens release button when you mount your 50mm lens? This would allow it to go over centre and bring up the 28mm frameline. If so keep your finger off the button and allow the lens to snap into place on its own. lynx220 Posted April 5, 2015 Author Share #4 Posted April 5, 2015 I just tried mounting the 50mm with the button released allowing the lens to snap onto place...still stuck on 28mm. The camera is less than a year old...ahhh.
AceVentura1986 Posted April 6, 2015 Share #5 Posted April 6, 2015 Simple fix under warranty. Frustrating, of course, but simple.
Rob Roskopp Posted April 6, 2015 Share #6 Posted April 6, 2015 Have you turned on Automatic Lens Detection? I always forget about this when switching from an uncoded lens (manual selection) to a coded one.

I did...from my understanding it's a mechanical movement that switches the frame lines when mounting the lens. I believe lens detection is for writing lens type to the file.
