skernsnapper Posted April 1, 2015 Share #1 Posted April 1, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, Can any UK member recommend a really reliable/competent service provider who knows the Leica screw models. My 111A deserves a CLA, but I am loathe to chance an unknown repairer. Any suggestions welcomed. Thanks.

earleygallery Posted April 1, 2015 Share #4 Posted April 1, 2015 The information is on the forum http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-news/leica-repair-specialists/ Malcolm Taylor has an excellent reputation for his work, but some members have had to wait years to get stuff back from him. CRR are equally well respected but often very busy so you need to schedule work some months in advance. I would also suggest talking to your local camera dealer - most will know/use a repairer. Red Dot & Aperture in London are two dealers I know of who offer repair services.
250swb Posted April 2, 2015 Share #5 Posted April 2, 2015 Malcolm Taylor is my recommendation, and he's in Herefordshire. There is a story about the length of time he takes, but I had an M2 and 50mm Elmar fully serviced by him two years ago and it was done inside three weeks. I also have a IIIF that was serviced by him just before I bought it (with the receipt for the work done), and it is the smoothest and well put together IIIF I have ever used. skernsnapper Posted April 2, 2015 Author Share #6 Posted April 2, 2015 Many thanks to all who have taken the trouble to reply. I shall probably have a chat with Malcolm Taylor when I am ready to get the 111A sorted - has a film in it currently. He is sufficiently near for me to take the camera. Dennis. gyoung Posted April 2, 2015 Share #7 Posted April 2, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) He did a good job on my III a while ago, and if you take it to him its an interesting experience, both the drive down the lanes to get to him and seeing what he has lying around in his 'office'!
