fore Posted March 27, 2015 Share #1 Â Posted March 27, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) What Leica R 28mm is equal or better than the SA PC 28mm/2.8? Nothing slower but always appreciate a faster lens. Â Thanks Chris
Advertisement Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Hi fore, Take a look here Leica Equivalent to 28mm R Super Angulon PC. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
rickp13 Posted March 27, 2015 Share #2  Posted March 27, 2015 have a look at the WIKI tab at the top of the screen. under R lenses by focal length, you'll find several 28mm, but none faster than f2.8.   151- 28mm–90mm f/2.8–4.5 ASPH Vario-Elmarit-R - 2004-2009 112- 28mm f/2.8 PC-Super-Angulon-R — 1988-2009 122- 28mm f/2.8 Elmarit-R II — 1994-2009 064- 28mm f/2.8 Elmarit-R I 114- 28mm–70mm f/3.5–4.5 Vario Elmar-R i had the 28 super angulon PC for a while, and used it as a normal and PC shift lens. i haven't used other R 28 lenses (except the 21-35 zoom), so can't comment, except to suggest keeping the PC - it's IMHO a good performer.  greetings from hamburg  rick
fore Posted March 27, 2015 Author Share #3 Â Posted March 27, 2015 Thanks Rick, I too have become accostomed to this nice lens, but am trying to raise funds for a Leica camera, and can sell it for $1500 and buy a regular 28mm R for $600. I just don't want to sacrifice quality. Otherwise, I'll just keep this though it's cumbersome to use as a non-pc lens.
rickp13 Posted March 27, 2015 Share #4  Posted March 27, 2015 ok, chris, i understand. it's not so much a quest for 'better' or 'faster', it's more about '$' and possibly a smaller package. maybe flickr will show you some tempting results from other R 28s?  good luck  rick

ICT, I hate to say, but I don't know what those numbers mean...I thought they were serial numbers, but those are 7 digit numbers:  Version I: http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-wiki.en/index.php/28mm_f/2.8_Elmarit-R_I  Version II: http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-wiki.en/index.php/28mm_f/2.8_Elmarit-R_II
luigi bertolotti Posted March 28, 2015 Share #7 Â Posted March 28, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) 5 digits number are the catalogue numbers used by Leitz / Leica (from 1960 around) 7 digits numbers (usually engraved on the lens' mount) are the serial numbers (from 1930 around... of course they started with less digits... 5 in the first years)
lct Posted March 28, 2015 Share #8 Â Posted March 28, 2015 Yes catalogue or order numbers ("order nos" in the Wiki leaflets) of the latest version of the Elmarit-R 28/2.8. Only difference between them is ROM contacts on the 11333.
