Interesting technique  and very effective.

Thank you! It was fun... I took the picture below first, which I prefer. It's more me.

21 years ago, Rick Kirby produced a similar head in Calne. It lies on its side in front of the public library building. I will see if I can find a picture of it.

I like shooting portraits wide open, but focusing on my granddaughter's eyes with a 75mm at f/2 from a few feet away while she's constantly moving is almost impossible. But yesterday, we let her watch a movie (Cinderella) and she was transfixed. She paid no attention to me as I took her picture. 75mm Summicron, f/2, orange filter, ISO 16,000 (!). (Minimally) processed in Lightroom and Silver Efex Pro.

This portrait is simply charming.  If it was mine, I might be tempted to crop a slice from the left side to give a little more viewing room on the rhs.

I think that's a good comment. Unfortunately, making that change wasn't a simple matter of cropping the original file differently. It was shot in portrait format, and there isn't any more room on the right. So it took a fair amount of Photoshop work (thank you, Content Aware Fill) to make the change you suggested, which I think is an improvement. Here's the revised version.
