Advertisement Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 Hi beekan, Take a look here Portrait Leica Lens For Canon Eos 6D. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
bocaburger Posted December 30, 2014 Share #2 Posted December 30, 2014 Can't speak directly to the 6D, as I own only the original 12mp 5D (still an amazingly capable image-maker, a remarkably impressive feat given it is 10 year-old technology). Currently my preferred portrait lenses for the 5D are the EF 85/1.8 and an original non-Ai 85/1.8 Nikkor, but when I had my R kit I loved the 90 Summicron. hamey Posted January 3, 2015 Share #5 Posted January 3, 2015 Also a Canon DSLR user, love the Summicron 90mm f2 Canadain version had it since 1975 a super super lens. The shots I have taken with it using the SL and Kodachrome 64 blows my M240 out of the water. It's a pity you cannot use the 28-90 R on a full frame Canon unless you do some surgery on it. Ken. tobey bilek Posted January 5, 2015 Share #9 Posted January 5, 2015 Since canon says it is full frame, your favorite focal length is fine. You will have no diaphragm automation, unacceptable to me for portraits but ok for studio table top or landscape. That said , if you follow the current trend and shoot full open or just a few stops down and focus that way, more possibilities open. 100 2.8 APO is a cracker jack lens. Best I used. Any woman over 15 will hate you as it is so sharp. Original 90 2.8 is run of the mill Leica lens. Later version is not as sharp up close. 90 Summicron is pretty nice. 80 Summilux is popular 135 2.8 R is average Leica
alan.y Posted January 5, 2015 Share #10 Posted January 5, 2015 Definitely the 80 over the 90 pre apo

beekan Posted January 8, 2015 Author Share #13 Posted January 8, 2015 is there any difference between the serial numbers from 80 to 83 or doesn't matter ?
jip Posted January 9, 2015 Share #14 Posted January 9, 2015 is there any difference between the serial numbers from 80 to 83 or doesn't matter ? Optically no difference at all don't become a collector be a user, so don't give to much attention to serials and what not.

adan Posted January 23, 2015 Share #16 Posted January 23, 2015 I'd definitely agree that the 80 f/1.4 and 90 f/2 are the finalists for a wide-open portrait lens (and for other purposes as well). 80 has a bit better maximum resolution @ f/1.4-f/4 - but you pay for it. 90 pre-APO/ASPH is the "poor man's 80" - same smooth creamy bokeh, just a tad less resolution (but hardly fuzzy!) Both have some color aberrations with slightly different fingerprints. The longer focal length of the 90 is kinder to narrow faces with long noses/chins, which the 80 will emphasize a bit more. The 80 will add more contour and "life" to flat faces.
