jip Posted July 13, 2017 Share #64 Posted July 13, 2017 (edited) To keep the 80mm Summilux-R thread here alive a bit I'll post a few new photos I shot with the lens on my R8. Workshop image review, not for me since I'm shooting the R8... jip Posted July 13, 2017 Share #65 Posted July 13, 2017 It's interesting to note that a lot of my younger students use liveview more than their viewfinders, and they all rather have a EVF than a OVF. It's the older generation (and I'm not even that old at 24) that likes the OVF better.
bozu_shutterbugger Posted July 13, 2017 Share #66 Posted July 13, 2017 (and I'm not even that old at 24) that likes the OVF better. funny ! I guess because they probably played with touch screens more growing up? I prefer evf in tricky lighting situation /high DR where my meter might fail me. Alon Posted September 1, 2017 Share #70 Posted September 1, 2017 The 80/1.4 is the crown jewel fo the Leica R lenses. Close to the Noctilux f/1.0 look. I think it's pretty sharp. Look at the samples on my page with the DMR digital back. That's how it will be on a digital body (Leiac SL or M included) http://www.overgaard.dk/leica_80_summilux-R_14.html This one is at f/2.4 I beg to disagree that the Lux 80 is the "crown jewel fo the Leica R lenses". The Lux 80 is a very good lens with lots of personality to the extent that I have 2 copies. The crown jewel for the Leica R lenses belongs to the 280/4 APO, the Lux 50 E60 and the 90AA.

May I add the APO-Elmarit 180/2.8 And the crown jewels for the M belong to the 75 Summilux.
