dkCambridgeshire Posted December 10, 2014 Share #5 Posted December 10, 2014 (edited) Just Q&D tested my M9 and MM in my bathroom using a 50/1.4 Summilux at small apertures. Some spots and marks are apparent - more so when altering tones in PP - but marks are the same for both cameras - which is indicative of marks on the bathroom tiles rather than the sensor glass Welcome, dear visitor! M9 50/1.4 at f9.5 MM 50/1.4 at f9.5 Conclusion … "Don't panic Mr Mainwaring! … It's the bathroom tiles that need cleaning … and the Mk1 50mm Summilux has barrel distortion at minimum focus distance !! jonoslack Posted December 10, 2014 Share #6 Posted December 10, 2014 Hah - I've cleaned my sensor due to photos of insects on a number of occasions. I have an M9 and an MM. I don't yet know if they have the problem because I haven't checked. What I do know is: 1 the pictures are still okay, so it isn't urgent (de spotting is always part of my routine with any digital camera) 2. Leica had better come up with a good solution, or they're toast. But I don't see much point in panicking just yet. It seems to me that in most cases it will be possible to register your camera and Leica will call you when they're ready to fix it (they did this with the strap lug issue on the M). Don't get me wrong, I'm not belittling the problem. Just patient enough to see what Leica have to say. Thelonius Monk once said: "there's no such thing as a bum note. It all depends how you resolve it" As You Say Jaap Not To Panic!
