Dikaiosune01 Posted November 24, 2014 Share #1 Â Posted November 24, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Currently, I'm not looking for a replacement. However, I may be looking for a leatherette excuse update i the future. Â When I take off the bottom plate to change batteries / memory cards / etc, the glue between the leatherette and the body has turned a little green? If mine is the only on green, i think i'm going to attribute it to the heat and humidity across south east asia. I've been pushing my leica pretty hard over the past year. Advertisement Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Hi Dikaiosune01, Take a look here What colour is your leatherette adhesive?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
AlanJW Posted November 24, 2014 Share #2 Â Posted November 24, 2014 I can't see any glue between the body an the leatherette. Looking at the edge it is certainly not green. This is so on a M(240) that is 18 months old and a newer M-P. Â I'm in New York, more temperate climate. The M has been out frequently in both cold and heat, sometimes high humidity -- at least high for here. Â I'm not sure how pushing your camera hard would cause glue to ooze, but you may be right about the local heat and humidity you face.

I use my camera in high humidity. I would say that is mildew and/or mold. I live in high humidity also, but always store my gear in air conditioning as much as possible. You did not mention the model you are having this issue with.
jdlaing Posted November 26, 2014 Share #4 Â Posted November 26, 2014 Sounds like good old standard brass oxidation to me.
thighslapper Posted November 26, 2014 Share #5 Â Posted November 26, 2014 It's almost certainly double sided 3m adhesive tape applied to the covering before it is die cut. Should be transparent. Any discolouration is secondary environmental.
