trastevere Posted December 5, 2014 Share #121 Posted December 5, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) I was watching a New Old Camera video concerning the M-A and every single wind-on that the participants made was a double. They were probably just enjoying the ratcheting. Thanks for clearing this up for me.

wattsy Posted December 5, 2014 Author Share #123 Posted December 5, 2014 An M-A DS would be my real favorite ! You can use any Leica M film body – including the M-A – as a double (triple, quadruple..) stroke body if you choose to. There is no obligation to advance the film in a single stroke if you'd rather ratchet wind it. 4
jmr237 Posted December 6, 2014 Share #124 Posted December 6, 2014 Has anyone heard news regarding the M-A's availability in the US? I keep watching the B&H site, but it is not in stock.
madNbad Posted December 6, 2014 Share #125 Posted December 6, 2014 (edited) ThePioneer, welcome to LUF by the way, ordered one from a shop in San Francisco and received it this week. Perhaps send him a PM and order one from the same shop. Edited December 6, 2014 by madNbad Spelling

A miller Posted December 6, 2014 Share #128 Posted December 6, 2014 I know for a fact that B&H has been filling pre-orders. Probably the case that they don't yet have enough to fill regular orders. I think Leica has been supplying dealers in the US in limited quantities. B&H probably has a large "pre-order" base given the infinitely liberal 30-day return policy (which makes pre-ordering a zero risk proposition). sblitz Posted December 6, 2014 Share #129 Posted December 6, 2014 sounds right to me ...... leica soho told me that Leica is geared to a limited run of the M-A simply because they are very uncertain how many they will sell. It is an experimental run on their part. Failure to garner enough numbers and the M-A becomes one of those limited run collector items, of which there are many Personally I hope not. jmr237 Posted December 7, 2014 Share #130 Posted December 7, 2014 I know for a fact that B&H has been filling pre-orders. Probably the case that they don't yet have enough to fill regular orders. I think Leica has been supplying dealers in the US in limited quantities. B&H probably has a large "pre-order" base given the infinitely liberal 30-day return policy (which makes pre-ordering a zero risk proposition). So that's my concern with B&H ... I don't want to pre-order with them only to receive an M-A that someone else returned. I have had a few past occasions in which B&H sent me something as "new" that had been returned in a state that I would not consider as sellable as a new product. That said, B&H doesn't charge sales tax if you are outside of NY (I am in CA). Are there other retailers like that from whom I could get a silver M-A?
A miller Posted December 7, 2014 Share #131 Posted December 7, 2014 I am sure that not all B&H customers are as righteous as me , but I when my pre-order from them was delivered to me I promptly returned it in person with the UPS box unopened. It was probably the first time in my entire purchase history at B&H in which could be guaranteed that the item had never been fondled by another customer. Once I received a "new" Think Tank bag from B&H that came with a bunch of receipts stuffed into one of the pockets. The guy who bought it first had seen a show in NYC and gone to a nearby restaurant. What color was the M-A that you returned? Wondering if B&H has any silver ones. Edited December 7, 2014 by jmr237

Popular Post Winedemonium Posted December 17, 2014 Popular Post Share #134 Posted December 17, 2014 Here it is in the flesh. Sorry, poor light, and I auto-white balanced, so its a bit all over the show. In case you are wondering if "black chrome" looks like the normal black Leica lenses, the finish of the Leica lenses is more pearlescent. The matt finish of the black M-A is more like the matt of primer paint, and in black, it looks super stealthy. You can see here, the ISO dial doesn't look too shiny. Welcome, dear visitor! Guest Posted December 17, 2014 Share #137 Posted December 17, 2014 ...You can see here, the ISO dial doesn't look too shiny... Sorry, what an improper color for the ISO-ring, imho. Just as with the shutter speed of a black Leica the ISO-ring should be black with white numbers too.

Still don't know how the backside of the very new special edition M3D will be designed, but I presume it will be silver too. http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/attachments/leica-sammler-historica/474210d1418854030-neu-leica-m3d-l1000697.jpg https://lfi-online.de/ceemes/webfile/img/1233060/YToxOntzOjE6IngiO3M6MzoiOTgwIjt9/03-B0000150-M3D-5-DDDhands.jpg#1200x802
