I did it also on my M-E. So far it looks same as before, writing data is slow as before...... it is probably an update for new lens coding such Summarit-M f/2.4.

I will use more to see if the shutter locks when in discreet mode (I use to get it often with 1.196.

Let us know how you fare. I would like that resolved with mine, as "discrete + soft" is my preferred advance mode and the M-E won't let me revert to a previous version of the M9 firmware.

On most cameras that exhibit this problem the discreet+soft lockup bug only manifests itself in Continuous mode. If that is the case with you the solution is simple: disable discrete when shooting on C. The combination makes no sense anyway.

Single shot mode in my case, and on two different bodies.

Same here - I also run into a problem whereas sometimes even in just discreet mode the shutter will take a extra time to cycle after releasing the shutter button… Mine happens on my M9 and MM and is repeatable.

I NEVER use continuous mode so my issue is in single release mode.

I have the new update on an M9 and have no problems with "discrete + soft". I rarely use 'soft' because it obviates exposure lock.

With 1.196 I got many time the shutter locked when in discreet mode also when shooting a single shot.

I tested both C and S shoot with the new firmware and I was not able to lock the shutter.

In C mode I got the camera frozen due to slow transfer data to the card but not the shutter locked as before..... So far my experience is positive.

Massimo

This sounds promising - now if Leica officially releases this I'll give it a go...

I like the hair-trigger "soft" shutter release, as it's closest in use to a film M. Not a fan of the mushy double/triple step shutter.
