atatexan Posted October 7, 2014 Share #1 Posted October 7, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) The M8 came with ten year old Capture One imaging software. It also is a version usable only up to Windows XP! What is software everyone here using, please?

jdlaing Posted October 7, 2014 Share #2 Posted October 7, 2014 I use Adobe Lightroom and Capture One Pro. I have also used Apple Aperture. I prefer Lightroom as I don't know Capture One that well yet.
Tommy1985 Posted October 7, 2014 Share #3 Posted October 7, 2014 I use Aperture and I like it very much.

D-Lux Posted October 7, 2014 Share #6 Posted October 7, 2014 Here's what I did: I used the license code printed on the back of the software CD (that came with my second-hand M8) and upgraded to Capture One 8 - with a significant discount. I have used Aperture before (for a long time), but since Capture One now offers an import function for Aperture libraries, I have moved to C1. I also think that the RAW processing in C1 delivers better results than Aperture.
k-hawinkler Posted October 7, 2014 Share #7 Posted October 7, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) LR5 - CS6 - Nik seems to work pretty well together. C1Pro8 sometimes does better raw conversion.
jaapv Posted October 7, 2014 Share #8 Posted October 7, 2014 Photoshop CC, Capture1 7.x pro and sometimes Lightroom.
stonearabiapix Posted October 9, 2014 Share #9 Posted October 9, 2014 Check out LR it is by far the most versatile post production software out there.
arno_nyhm Posted October 9, 2014 Share #10 Posted October 9, 2014 i like using UFRaw. concerning the software delivered with the m8 (should have been C1 3LE) try contacting Leica Customer Care. the codes delivered with the m8 may be not valid any more due to licensing-agreeents between leica and C1. when i did so, they provided me with a free license to LR4
cobbu2 Posted October 10, 2014 Share #11 Posted October 10, 2014 Funny, it just so happens today I tried registering the C1 software that came with my newly -acquired M8. It was frustratingly unsuccessful and after having a chat with the tech rep at PhaseOne, I was told the license with the disk is non-transferrable, having been used up by the previous owner. So I'm thinking Lightroom (I'll try Leica Customer Care angle) or C1 7.x.
wda Posted October 10, 2014 Share #12 Posted October 10, 2014 Lightroom. Currently a bargain if you have to buy or upgrade it. Does everything I want and more. Backup with Adobe videos is comprehensive and several excellent books.
lct Posted October 11, 2014 Share #13 Posted October 11, 2014 C1 v7 Express updated to v8. I got C1 v4 in the box of my M8.2 and never found a better converter for my Leicas since then.
airscrew Posted October 11, 2014 Share #14 Posted October 11, 2014 Iridient Developer. I like it’s plain, non commercial user interface. Only for Mac users though.
cobbu2 Posted October 15, 2014 Share #15 Posted October 15, 2014 An update... I contacted Leica Customer Service via email, explained my situation and sure enough they came through with a Free license to Lightroom 4! Now THAT''s customer service. Thanks to arno_nyhm for mentioning it.
tobey bilek Posted November 5, 2014 Share #16 Posted November 5, 2014 Photoshop is best if you learn it. Light room is the raw processing portion portion of photoshop. Problem is Adobe is trying to lock you into renting software. Lightroom is still available as a standalone purchase. My new Macbook air is supposed to come with aperture. I`see when it arrives next week. Supposedly it is discontinued.
