Advertisement Posted May 7, 2007 Posted May 7, 2007 Hi ddp, Take a look here Railyard Restoration. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
andybarton Posted May 7, 2007 Share #2 Posted May 7, 2007 Do you have a season ticket on this railway Dan? I really like number 2 - the colours and details within the peeling paint are superb. Number 1 really needs an old fella, sitting about 3 rows back... Great series all round - were these taken with a Noctilux?
ddp Posted May 7, 2007 Author Share #3 Posted May 7, 2007 Andy - thanks! No season pass, lol. I have Willam to thank for getting me out to this site to shoot....waiting for a roll of Kodachrome to come back as well from this day. These are with a 35/1.4 Summilux apsherical. stuny Posted May 7, 2007 Share #4 Posted May 7, 2007 Dan - Terrific series. If you haven't rented it yet you should rent the low-budget, indie film, THE STATION AGENT.
lambroving Posted May 10, 2007 Share #5 Posted May 10, 2007 Nice lens! Agree with Andy about #2. Amazed you pulled that off with 400 NC. Colors are spot on! Look forward to seeing your chromes when you get them. Haven't had time for the Forum since we were there on the 29th. I guess in #1 that was the car in the yard which was ready for rides between Ringoes and Flemington starting in May. Only took my film in today on my day off. First chance I've had to think this month owing to #@&*#% in the office lately..., and it's aready the 10th! Doubt I got anything much of interest..., but you never know! At least lunch at The Ship was good.
pemayeux Posted May 11, 2007 Share #6 Posted May 11, 2007 Great shots Dan. I'm in agreement with the others. #2 is superb. I also like #1. The textures and colors are wonderful, the 35/1.4 ASPH is my personal favorite. It illustrates what digital lacks. Paul.
fotografr Posted May 11, 2007 Share #7 Posted May 11, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Really good series, Dan. Lots of shapes, colors and textures to play with there. I'm a bit surprised these relics haven't been turned into scrap metal.
ddp Posted May 11, 2007 Author Share #8 Posted May 11, 2007 Thanks again for the comments. Paul - my 35/1.4 is slightly different from the ASPH - it's the first aspherical version. I'm not sure how the two differ in overall image quality - all I can say is that I do not miss my 35/2. As for the digital comparison....I couldn't agree more. Sometimes I like beer from the hand pump as opposed to the regular tap!
andybarton Posted May 11, 2007 Share #9 Posted May 11, 2007 Dan Do you mean that beer comes from something OTHER than a hand pump? What funny ways you people have.
ddp Posted May 11, 2007 Author Share #10 Posted May 11, 2007 Dan Do you mean that beer comes from something OTHER than a hand pump? What funny ways you people have. Pubs & dining establishments make big deals out of brews they have on the hand pump...served at the correct temp, etc. I always try to grab at least a pint when they have one available. New Jersey has several restaurants that brew on premise, and are quite good. I'm more of a beer snob than wine snob anyhow. Most people over here have no clue... Rona!d Posted May 11, 2007 Share #11 Posted May 11, 2007 I like #1, #2, #4 very much. Nice colors and framing. Well done, Daniel! cheers, Ron
imported_peter_m Posted May 14, 2007 Share #12 Posted May 14, 2007 Nice set Dan, with 2 and 4 being my favorites. That place got a lot off potential for images. Peter
wda Posted May 16, 2007 Share #13 Posted May 16, 2007 Dan, A fascinating series with lovely colours. However, contrary to popular vote, #5 stands out for me as an outstanding abstract image. David
elansprint72 Posted May 17, 2007 Share #14 Posted May 17, 2007 Dan, There is hope! http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/other/2205-building-parlor-car.html http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/other/2565-heres-one-we-prepared-earlier.html I think that it's great that some folks take on restorations and others do new-builds. I like the shadow of that wheel.
azzo Posted May 17, 2007 Share #15 Posted May 17, 2007 " There are clear divisions and cliques when it comes to the photo posts on this Forum....Those who have been here long enough know it " Dan, There was no need to be here for long, before I realised the clear divisions and cliques ! This is a nice series of images and to me, very interesting. I like best your 4th, the one with the large spanner. It has something S-pecial about it. ddp Posted May 18, 2007 Author Share #16 Posted May 18, 2007 Folks...thanks for looking, and the comments. Azzo - it may have been more pertinent to keep my quotes in the thread where originally posted as opposed to here where the context isn't clear.
