Canceled the order - it was the white gloves which did it.

 

I have a pair of white cotton gloves which I will happily sell you for 100 Euro. Leica price of course, I'll make a couple of red dots on them for a 2000% markup :D

The M60 edition is a joy to use and quite liberating not chimping after every few shots. Leica store Miami procured me one and I'm grateful to be shooting with this magnificent stainless steel beast. The shutter sound is really seductive as well, and how it resonates in that Stainless body with out all of the electronics.

 

I realize the camera is overlooked because of the price, however if you saw the lens in person which is numbered btw and held the body if you were in the position to buy one you wouldn't feel this way. You would want one yesterday.

 

I keep my 50mm on my M240 and 35 on the M60. I don't like changing lenses when I'm out shooting.

 

I noticed a comment about the "movie" button from the M240 on the M60, it is to set the time and date.

The biggest benefit might just be more "stopped down" images being shot.

 

Using the 0.95 / f1 / f1.4 lenses wide open and nailing the focus will be a fun exercise.

 

Yes, I know, "back in the film days..."

 

Of course, you can also shoot with no RF coupling and no LV if you want to

Why should it be any different to using any other M camera (unless you are suggesting that you need live view to be able to focus those lenses)?

At f0.95 / f1 missing focus even by a few cm results in a lost image. Atleast for me. Sharpness is a bourgeois concept and I am bourgeois at these apertures.

 

One of the reasons the M240 has the EVF and LV is to aid in precise focusing and precise framing.

 

Let's not go into the "purity of the M" discussion, Leica added these features whether the forums agree or not.

 

Going by this use-case, to me, as I shoot these lenses on a daily basis, the M60 is only interesting to the extent of the sexy appearance of the body.

 

I will hunt for a lens+hood only sale though :)

If I were to put the Noctilux on the M60, I would no fear of non sharp photos because I know how to focus bracket. The buffer is the same as the Mp so I can let it rip faster then most toying with their evf and live view. Lets put it to rest.

 

I don't think any M60 owners will be selling their 35 Luxs ;-)

I have no issue focussing the Noctilux or the 75 Summilux (which has an even shallower depth of field) using the rangefinder on my M9 and Monochrom (and a magnifier).

 

Consensus here seems to be that the rangefinder remains superior to live view and focus peaking - even if that is not the case, I have no concerns over continuing to use the optical viewfinder. It remains superb on my M3, it's intuitive on the M9/Monochrom, and it has been upgraded on the M(240).

 

I have no R lenses, and I'm not really into long teles. I don't think I'm alone in favouring focal lengths from 15 to 90mm.

 

I'm not suggesting your preference is wrong, just that there are other opinions to those you hold.

Is it mandatory to have an M60 and an M240 or is it permitted to have a M60 and maybe a M9 or MM? M8 perhaps? No? M3? What's an M3?

 

Rip the M60 faster at an astounding 3fps? Damn!

 

If you take the M60 out to use it you may notice there are no strap lugs. Hmmmmm hand holding the M60 with the Noctilux 0.95 to focus bracket must be a funny sight indeed (if not using Thumbs-up or a grip) which could mean you may drop the M60 and the lens. It's only Audi Design, it doesn't have the Audi chassis or crumple zone ;0))))))

On the M9 and MM I somehow did nail focus quite consistently. Sometimes with the 1.4x but mostly without

 

I didn't say the EVF and LV are superior to the RF. I only said I prefer these electronic aids for precise focusing and framing..

 

I have the M9, MM and M240 - can't see much of an upgrade on the M240 very honestly

 

Agree, I typically use M mount lenses between 16mm and 90mm on my M bodies

 

It's a big world, there's place for all of us :)

Those electronic aids looked like they were going to be the bees knees. At the time, I was surprised they kept the optical viewfinder - user reports soon revealed why (Tim Ashley gave the most thorough analysis).

 

I like my T, but that is quite a different camera to the M.

I dont have an M60 but I think the idea of a rangefinder camera in general is to use the rangefinder. If I wanted to use the EVF regulary I would choose another camera with a better EVF.

If I wanted to make sure to focus a very fast lens accurate I would choose a camera with fast and reliable AF (except I was shooting only static subjects).

I would not pay the money for an M60 but why are you trying to bring up negative aspects? If someone likes to shoot with it and is happy, why not just believe him that the camera works fine for him?

The M60 comes with a case and strap. I also put a thumbs up on. You think you're ripping me? I'm the one with all the toys. Yes I can focus a noctilux faster then someone pressing the live view button, the magnifier coming on and slowly focusing until the peaking comes on by bracketing. What don't you get about that? It will be another 6 months before I come back to this forum.

Tell me about the other toys! What else did you treat yourself with? A 28Lux? The 0.95 in silver anodized finish?
