rramesh Posted September 17, 2014 Share #1 Posted September 17, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Notice that this has been released. There is no mention of Leica support. Is this normal and must one wait several months for supported Leica cameras.
Advertisement Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Hi rramesh, Take a look here Capture One Pro 8. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Luke_Miller Posted September 17, 2014 Share #2 Posted September 17, 2014 It supports all current Leica models (other than Leica S). I downloaded it yesterday - good upgrade to Version 7. Better calalog features and much improved local adjustment capability. Von Capture One Pro 8 unterstützte Kameras
120 Posted September 17, 2014 Share #3 Posted September 17, 2014 I am disappointed there is no support for the S, and I assume it's still the same for C1 Seven. Is it possible to use C1 with the S in any fashion? Edit: I'm wondering who is using the S with C1 and the Leica ICC profile?
Luke_Miller Posted September 17, 2014 Share #4 Posted September 17, 2014 Since Phase One is a digital back manufacturer it seems to support only its own and Mamiya-Leaf MF cameras and backs. No Hasselblad, Pentax, or Leica S support.
120 Posted September 17, 2014 Share #5 Posted September 17, 2014 Thanks, I hadn't noticed that. I have heard other excuses, though. I am just wondering if I can use the Leica ICC profile like some did with the S2; I will really be lost without C1.
jaapv Posted September 18, 2014 Share #6 Posted September 18, 2014 You can always insert your own profile.
120 Posted September 19, 2014 Share #7 Posted September 19, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thanks Jaap. How do you recommend I make a profile? I want to use C1 pro 7.

nggalai Posted September 19, 2014 Share #9 Posted September 19, 2014 Also, you could build your own camera profile from scratch. As the S shoots DNG, the files are readable (per se) by Capture One 7 and 8, there’s just the missing camera profile. The process of creating your own camera profile is harder than with Lightroom. But basically it’s the same approach: 1) You’ll need a suitable target. As Capture One uses ICC profiles, you’ll want a target with as many measurement patches as possible, e.g. the Colorchecker Digital SG or a multi-patch IT8 target. 2) For a more universally usable profile, you’ll need two shots of said target at different colour temperatures. Say, daylight vs/ shadow or vs/ tungsten lighting. 3) You’ll need profiling software that can output multi-target ICC/ICM profiles, and know how to use it. Examples are basICColor input (300 Euro) and Argyll CMS (open source, e.g. free, but hell to use). 4) You’ll need to tweak the profile for general use, as outlined in LFI two months ago. Or profile individually for each lighting situation / shoot. What Adobe did right with their XRite collaboration was that creating custom camera profiles was made bloody easy. Just take a shot of your ColorChecker Passport, run it through the free software, tweak a bit using the free DNG editor, done. With ICC/ICM (e.g. Capture One), it’s much more difficult to generate a universally acceptable profile. Phase One even publishes blog postings about HEUREKA! moments from their colour tweaking guru. You get the idea. But it’s feasible, depending on the ceiling of your frustration level. Cheers, -Sascha
120 Posted September 19, 2014 Share #10 Posted September 19, 2014 Also, you could build your own camera profile from scratch... Thank you for the detailed outline. Eh, I have the old Colorchecker with 24 sqares. I will give the outline a try, and also Jaap's color editor.
