stephen.w Posted September 12, 2014 Share #21  Posted September 12, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) I found the VC and Zeiss finders to have an offset error for framing which is corrected with the Leica finders, both the metal (which I have) and plastic versions. There are a nuber of controversial threads on this issue here in the Forum. The problem is that the metal Leica OVFs are the cost of the CV lens . I've read that this is a problem with the Zeiss finder, which was designed for the Ikon on which the hot-shoe sits directly above the mid-lens axis, but is it true of the CV ones too? After having borrowed and really enjoyed using a 21 SEM, I too have a 21 lens on my horizon (probably the SEM, but possibly the Elmarit ASPH or even the Zeiss 2.8) and would be looking to use it with the CV 21/25 external finder. Unfortunately that beautiful bright Zeiss 21 finder was a no-go for me. The CV is better as mentioned above but I found the Leicas to be the best of the lot. Peter H Posted September 12, 2014 Share #23 Â Posted September 12, 2014 I like the Leica 21/24/28 zoom finder. None of them are perfect but I find it very pleasant indeed to use and it does line up nicely with the lens.
MarkP Posted September 12, 2014 Share #24  Posted September 12, 2014 I like the Leica 21/24/28 zoom finder. None of them are perfect  Indeed, and it's versatile (3 in one) and cheap and quite compact.   but I find it very pleasant indeed to use  The barrel distortion gave me eye strain and I felt like I was looking down a black tube    it does line up nicely with the lens.  Indeed it does. Â ? Â Not the 21mm CV finder I have, it is offset to put it directly in line with the lens. Â Steve
algrove Posted September 12, 2014 Share #26 Â Posted September 12, 2014 Do not have the 21 Cv finder, but if you are changing WA lenses on a shoot and not using the M240, then I prefer the #12103 21-24-28 Leica finder which positions itself over the lens axis. As for tunnel vision, anything smaller than my peripheral vision causes that.
