One of the most perfect & beautiful Leica to me.. Silver Chrome M7 with the new finder. It's so convenient to use. I am actually taking more photos with it compare to my times with MP or M-A or even M6.

Beautiful camera. What kind of soft release button is that? Could you refer me somewhere? Hopefully it exists in black.

I really like these tiny soft button, it makes my shooting experience feel more "precise". I got them on Aliexpress. It took like 2 months to get from China to S.Korea which is hard to believe.. but, I think it's worth it. They did Not have exact one in Black when I bought mine. They had different shades of silver, gold and knurled black ones.

Which lenshood is that for the 35mm Summicron? I knocked the lil plastic one off a while ago and have been looking for a replacement for months. TIA

Hi, I've only read half this thread but just had confirmation that my new to me black M7, 0.85, will arrive tomorrow with a Summilux 50mm f/1.4 lens.  It'll be the third time I've purchased one in the 40 years I've been a Leica user.  This week I've read the "I love my M-A" thread and got close to buying one, but knew the M7 0.85 was for me.

Some years ago I went to Malta for a week to visit my dear friend Mr Azzopardi and took with me an M7 and an MP.  I carried both around the city for two days and then abandoned the MP in my hotel room.  It seemed to be a lot slower than the M7 to meter in the variable light and shadow of the narrow streets.  I sold the M7 to buy a second MP thinking that was a wise investment.

Thanks for all the entertainment on these pages.

Here's my last M7:

So you rejected an MP and then bought one.. 🧐 And you are waiting for a .85 and you show us a .72 🧐  You must be someone who can think very good out of the box 😁

Yes the M7 is perhaps my favourite Analogue M, mine is with the Ala-Carte .58 VF that I had ordered with the camera when buying it new somewhere around 2002 I think, (???)......I sent it to Wetzlar two years ago for a complete CLA and to update the VF to the MP glare resistant specifications, an expensive job but worth it in spades.

I was surprised when Leica re-introduced the M6, good camera that it is for sure but I would have preferred a re-issued M7 myself, ( even though yes, I did buy the "new" M6 ), it's such an easy, smooth, camera to use with little "extras" like the very useful shutter lock on/off switch and the DX reader that Leica decided not to make available on even the new re-vamped M6 re-issue. Sometimes, probably most times to be honest, I can't figure out Leica's thinking, but we're still here sipping the Cool-Aid.

Hi Everyone! I intend to buy Leica m7 and found a second hand starter set with summicron 50mm. I saw that this camera has 42xx serial number, but as much as I knew, camera's serial numbers are ending lastly with 39xx or am I wrong? Written that production date of camera is 2011. Do u have any comment about it? Thanks.

M7 with 42xx number would indicate 2011. Nothing to worry about.

Hi Rupert , this is the link that interests us  : https://www.lemonde.fr/m-le-mag/article/2016/04/27/raymond-depardon-et-son-inseparable-leica_4909357_4500055.html

and the translation :

"Today, I'm working with the M7, the fastest camera in the world. It has the shortest latency, 120 milliseconds from the moment you press the shutter to the moment you take a picture. Some cameras don't keep up and don't shoot right away. This one shoots very quickly. Ten times faster than any other camera, even digital.

Best regards

Henry
