Are there special editions from the M7 with the old style rewind knob a la MP?

I never seen it, but noticed thad Leica does it the other way around, having a M7 style rewind crank on the MP in the a la carte menu and also the Ralph Gibson Limited Edition MP.

I think you are correct that there have never been M7 bodies with the MP style rewind knob. The closest is the M6TTL Millennium edition (same height as M7 with the same large shutter speed dial, etc.) which has an MP style rewind knob. Maybe somebody could buy both an M7 and Millennium body and get DAG or another technician to swap the various parts to put the M7 parts inside the M6TTL body? :D That said, perhaps the printed circuit boards and additional electronics inside the M7 are a very tight fit and simply do not fit into the shape of top plate used with a pull up rewind knob – even inside the M6TTL Millennium top plate which has the necessary M7 height?

I've seen someone do just that: Take a black paint M6 TTL top plate + rewind and swap it with a black paint M7 top plate + rewind.  Result is an M7 camera with MP type rewind.

I don't have the time to upload pictures now so send me a PM and get them to you.

Interesting, it makes you wonder why Leica have never offered the MP rewind as an a la carte option for the M7.

I found this on Google so my theory that it may not be possible sounds like bollocks.

M6TTL does not have the M2, M3, MP rewind, but the M4, M6, M7 type.

This was the one option that stopped me ordering an a la carte model - what I really wanted was an M7 that looked like an MP as much as possible. I much prefer the post rewind to the silly little fold-out arm thingy.

Edward superb and lovely portrait and well done :)

Film well reproduces "pores" of skin (I remind you pore is a small hole)

Edge of the face soft and natural (not sharp as a rasor) :) same notice for the "lines" of the arm

Also well reproduced color of skin no magenta pb as in digital

Thanks for these demonstration and if you can also post in our thread ...

Again thank you  :)

The red of the biker in picture 1 is also nice to watch

Best

Henry

It's not only film who contributes to have a nice image , also the camera with a good lighmeter

has a part in the success of the picture. Very pleasant to watch not agressive for eyes when

watching ! :)

Thank you very much for your kind comments on my post, Henry! Much appreciated! I will certainly post in the film thread.

Beautiful color and superb tonality in the flower shot! I'm starting to fall in love with the Portra emulsions. The reds and greens look so natural and appealing.

... Thanks Edward for your comment  :) and thanks SS :)

You said Kodak and Portra ? normal it's the Leica choice for the sensor of his first digit camera :)

but if you still like color of CCD Kodak , but this time in analog film , take Kodak Portra .... same notice for Kodak

TX b&w  :)  Leica gives free one roll of Kodak TX when you purchase a new M-A  :)

Edward and SS , poppies were taken with this combinaison

Tripod is put directly under the grip and camera. Very

practical grip (not need to remove grip)  :)

Edward , according to your photo preference , you can choose between Kodak Portra 160 or 400

and Ektar 100.  You can see many pictures posted in "I like film" thread with these films :)

Just to show you please look at this diagram , apologies for posting something about film because it's M7 thread but as I said above the choice of film is also important with the M7 camera.

Edward , for the choice of Portra or Ektar and your preference, here again two pictures taken with the same camera  M7 and same lens (35 Summilux Asph) , during my last humanitarian mission in VN in August 2016 and during a break :)

Phu Ninh (VN)

and Kodak Ektar 100

If you look carefully in background , you can notice the same mountain range and the same hill at right in foreground

So it's the same landscape, taken practically in the same moment but a different place but not too far between the 2 pictures

Your advice for color ?

Henry

Thank you very much for the diagram and photos, Henry! The diagram is very helpful as I am not very familiar with the latest versions of these films. I find Portra colors to be more refined, while Ektar is quite blunt. I like both actually :)

Here are two shots from my first Ektar roll a couple of weeks ago:

You are welcome Edward

Yes very nice color still vivid (specially red) on these pictures , in spite of difficult light condition like picture 2

Color of skin arm is faithful IMO

I forget to tell you that the 2 rolls Portra and Ektar above are developed pratcically

the same time by myself in Tetenal 38°C
