simik Posted September 2, 2014 Share #1 Posted September 2, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) I currently own Leica M (Type 240) and Leica M-To-R lens adapter. I would like to invest in Leica Elmarit-R 100mm Macro F4 lens and achieve 1:1 Life-Size magnification ratio. Could I use Leica Elpro 1:2 -1:1 (Life-Size Adapter) since my R macro lens is not an APO lens? If not, are there any chance I could achieve macro 1:1 on any M or R lens on my Leica M camera? Regard, S:o
Advertisement Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 Hi simik, Take a look here Leica M Type 240 and Elmarit-R 100mm Macro f4 lens. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Bobitybob Posted September 2, 2014 Share #2 Posted September 2, 2014 This is possible via a number of routes. For example, the Macro Elmar 1:4/100 is available in two versions (so be careful which you get) one only for use with a bellows. The other can be used with a R-Macro adaptor which has the effect of increasing the magnification but reducing the focus distance. If you take a look at the Wiki at the top of the page and check out the R lenses it will help explain the various combinations possible. All of these should work with your 240 and R to M Adaptor with out problems. Hope that's helpful.
Michael Geschlecht Posted September 2, 2014 Share #3 Posted September 2, 2014 Hello Simik, Welcome to the Forum. This should be a good lens to use with your M240. Regardless of which version of the lens that you choose. Both lenses are the same lens optically. The lens without the focussing mount requires an additional bellows. Either the original Leicaflex version bellows or the later model provided by Novoflex. Both bellows will give you 1 : 1 without additional add on lenses when they are used with the non-focussing version of the lens. A good aperture to begin learning macrophotography with is F11. This is a reasonable combination of depth of field & sharpness. Don't underestimate the value of a large ballhead & a large or small: Strong solid tripod. Bill W Posted September 3, 2014 Share #4 Posted September 3, 2014 I owned the 100 Elmarit R back when I had an R system. Wish I still had the lens for my M. It is a fantastic lens for macro. Enjoy and Welcome.
bocaburger Posted September 3, 2014 Share #5 Posted September 3, 2014 Another way in would be a 60 macro with a 2x. I used that kit on an R8 (2x was the original non-APO). Very good results. Nikon also makes (or made) a very good 2-element close up lens in 62mm which I used with a 55-62 step ring. Has the advantage of not costing any f-stop loss. Since getting my M240 I've toyed around with my 50/3.5 Micro Nikkor, reputedly one of Nikon's (if not in general) sharpest lenses ever. The thing I dislike for macro is the EVF. I'm just partial to reflex viewing.
