.... and for people who wish simply to use them with film, there are plenty of R9 bodies available at what is now a very good price, and these have small but useful extra features and improvements over the R8.

Yes, great value (although the lenses are no longer as cheap or as available as they where a few years ago). It's the same with other brands: you can get a fine condition Nikon F5 for £350 or a Canon 1V for even less - both one-time flagship cameras that sold for £1500+.

There are two for sale on e Bay Australia right now. Both have a starting bid of $400 AD.

And I wouldn't be surprised if no one bids on them.

SO................. VERY Cheap by any measure considering the build quality and heritage.

But one really good thing about film cameras is that even though they are cheap they never become virtually worthless.

If you're in the market then why not look at one. They really are a good camera.

I am owning a R8 and had it recently completely overhauled by Leica. It is quite expensive, but I like this camera and analogue photography.

I own the following equipment:

Leica R8 with winder,

Summilux-R 1:1.4 / 80mm",

Vario - Elmar - R 1:3.5 / 35 - 70 mm,

Elmarit - R 1:2.8 / 24 mm

I have attached a photo of my equipment and a picture as a sample

I had several cameras of different brands, but since I bought the R8 I will not change for a different camera.

regards Helmut
