I hope there will still be elephants in the wild in another 25 years, when I have read it is predicted there will be none left.

 

As I understand it, poaching increased dramatically when elephant ivory was allowed to be sold some years ago. When there was an effective blockade of the market for ivory, poaching declined precipitously. The lesson seems to be - eliminate the market.
