Guest NEIL-D-WILLIAMS Posted July 5, 2014 Share #1 Posted July 5, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) In manual mode in the OVF you can see red circle and left and right arrows. When the exposure is correct you can only see the red circle ....... what is the small red circle that pops up to the left when you half press ? farnz Posted July 5, 2014 Share #4 Posted July 5, 2014 I had too look it up. I swear I never saw that before the FW update. It was certainly there. Pete.
jgeenen Posted July 5, 2014 Share #5 Posted July 5, 2014 It wasn't there before the FW update. Now it does make sense - it indicates a locked ISO in Auto ISO mode. Johannes
farnz Posted July 5, 2014 Share #6 Posted July 5, 2014 The M8, M9, and M all showed a dot when exposure was locked with a half-press of the shutter release. (Are we perhaps talking about different dots here?) Where did the info about indicating a locked ISO in AutoISO mode come from please? Pete.
jrh68uk Posted July 5, 2014 Share #7 Posted July 5, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) For manual mode: auto ISO: auto ISO in M mode = previous ISO there is no dot on half press of the shutter. But with auto ISO in M mode = on There is a dot on half press of the shutter. This seems to make sense for the new option for auto ISO in this latest firmware. lct Posted July 5, 2014 Share #9 Posted July 5, 2014 The M8, M9, and M all showed a dot when exposure was locked with a half-press of the shutter release... Not in auto iso mode, as far as the M8 is concerned at least. Has been implemented at some beta tester's request in FU 2.0.1.5.
farnz Posted July 5, 2014 Share #10 Posted July 5, 2014 Not in auto iso mode, as far as the M8 is concerned at least. ... I didn't suggest that it was. Pete.
jdsheepdog Posted July 5, 2014 Share #11 Posted July 5, 2014 It wasn't there before the FW update. Now it does make sense - it indicates a locked ISO in Auto ISO mode. Johannes Ummm, yes it was, and I used it a lot. In fact, it disappeared when I first upgraded the firmware, and I have an earlier post in the upgrade saga, expressing concern over it's vanishing. It did not come back until I did a full reset, and now it all works fine.
Exodies Posted July 5, 2014 Share #12 Posted July 5, 2014 I hope it's only a myth that the beta testers can affect the design.
Markie500 Posted July 8, 2014 Share #13 Posted July 8, 2014 Thanks for the answer. I was too shy to ask the question, but also noticed the change in Manual after the software update.
